Mixed bag

This product is a mixed bag. We bought it to replace a prior model, which served us well for 16 years!
Good things about the new version:
1. Appearance--almost as good as the prior model
2. Ventilation--Better than the old model. We have to recirculate, not the best, but this doers a good job
3. Convection bake works well on this, as it did on the old version, but the preheat time is much faster

However, there are several features about this model, some of which are the same on the old
4, As with the old model, controls are totally non-intuitive. A lack of a traditional keypad doesn't help. The scrolling messages for "settings" just don't hack it. Example is the confusing process for setting the preheat offset for the convection mode. This is not helped by a very sketchy User Manual. Lot's of user interface work needed!
5. Air fry doesn't work well at all. No real instructions, no way to know what temperature the air fry system is at, unless that's something I missed in the lack of instructions!
6.The sensor is very iffy--sometimes the magic works, sometimes it doesn't
7. Steam clean just doesn't clean. I'm not expecting miracles. but I thought it would have a noticeable effect before using more traditional cleaners.
8. New model is missing a "keep warm" button that we used quite a bit on the old model
9. The script on the keypad is somewhat small
In summary, the new model works well in microwave and convection modes. Some of the "added features like Air Fry and Steam Clean don't cut it. Non-intuitive controls and a lack of comprehensive instructions make it had to love. We bought because of a prior good experience with an earlier model despite it's similar controls. This model is not exactly cheap, so I expected the "added features" to perorm better

When air frying, we recommend using a metal tray, metal rack, or glass tray, and leaving at least a 1-inch gap between the cooking dish and the sides of the oven. You can find additional information on page 21 of the owner's manual here:

Regarding the Steam Clean mode, we recommend pressing the Steam Clean button, placing a steam bowl with 1/4 cup of water inside, and pressing the dial or Start/Pause to begin. Once the cycle is complete, wipe the oven cavity with a paper towel or cloth.

This microwave is a major upgrade in every way. The capacity is perfect for everything from quick snacks to full family meals. The controls are intuitive, and the display’s lettering and lighting make it easy to read and operate. The dimensions fit perfectly over the stove while still providing generous interior space, thanks to its well-designed layout. The ventilation works efficiently, keeping cooking areas clear of steam and odors. With high wattage and the added bonus of convection oven and air fryer features, it cooks evenly, quickly, and eliminates the need for multiple appliances. The stainless steel interior is durable and easy to clean, the lighting inside is excellent, and the overall look is sleek and modern. Great unit

We have this had appliance now for approximately 2 years. So far this has worked great for everything but air frying. My wife will not use this feature as she wants a basket to utilize NOT just setting the food on the rack. She is disappointed that a basket isn’t offered.

Great new model

This multi-faceted workhorse is a great addition to my home kitchen. A much older model I had finally had to be replaced from old age and overuse. I was quite happy to find one in the same family by GE, but this time it arrived with a few more bells and whistles than I expected. I jumped at the chance to continue with a machine that already had provided a long and reliable term of service. I am quite pleased to now have a stronger exhaust fan, brighter stove light, and an easier intuitive keyboard to use when listing the time and use desired for microwave.
I have had not tried the steam clean, or the Chef Connect yet, but I'm looking forward to mastering these new additions.
The installation was easy and fast. The capacity of the oven is the same as I had before but I was quite happy to discover that it performs even better with even reheating and cooking than I was used to. This an an excellent unit and I am looking forward to trying new recipes to use the new improvements.

I’ve had this microwave just over one year (conveniently the exact time of the limited warranty), and the keypad shorted out. Their suggestion was for me to replace the control board, which would be another expensive waste of time. I recommend using this company’s competitor.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Not worth the price

Air fryer takes forever to cook. Handle feels cheap. Oven mode takes ages just to pre heat.

The preheat time to 350° F is approximately 10 to 15 minutes. This model has Air Fry with Manual Cook. This allows you to set a timer. Please see page 21 of the owner's manual for more information. Here is the link:

Really enjoying our new GE Microwave.

Terrific microwave oven, easy and intuitive to configure, and has a convection and Air Fry capability, so doubles as an extra conventional oven. The price was reasonable, and installation easy. A follow-on model to a prior generation GE Microwave for which parts were no longer available. Lots of improvements.
