Met expectations

So far I am pleased with the product. Like other reviewers, I found the air fryer and convection function takes longer than I hoped, but is still an improvement over taking up counter space with a bulky air fryer. I found that you jut need to add some time and temperature to get the cooking results you want. Microwave functionality much better than the LG product we replaced.

Challenging install with included template

This is a replacement for a damaged unit of the same design. The template (included with the unit) was 100% incorrect for this microwave. Regardless of how it was configured, the mounting bolt locations did not line up. The previous unit was 9 years old and was still doing its job but door damage and the cost of the subsequent repair made no sense. Low rating is for the time wasted trying to configure the template.

We value this feedback. Each microwave will come with a template that is designed for that specific model. When replacing an Over-the-Range microwave, the mounting bracket included with the new unit should be used since the mounting bracket is specific to each model. The new screws, bolts and exhaust adapter should also be used. For more information on this, please refer here:

That's progress, I guess.

We replaced a 25+ year old GE OTR microwave with this new one. Ironically, thew old mounting system was much better than this new one. More importantly, the old one was a 1200 watt oven and this new one is only 950 watts. We notice the difference, but only slightly. Hated to see the old one go, but it no longer matched our other kitchen appliances.

Instructions booklet is NOT user friendly and it would be best to have the clock feature accessible

I love the look of this microwave. I am still getting used to the controls (the dial to turn and press and then confirm by pressing a button). Right now it seems arduous, but I’ll get used to it. It was installed above my stove and vents inside, but it does have the capacity to be vented outside. The wattage is 950 watts. I like that is air fry’s and has convection baking and roasting. The capacity is 21”x13.5”x9.5” inside and has a 12” turntable. The outside dimensions are L 30” x H 15.5” x D 15.5

We only had the microwave installed today but have used it a few times. The PVM9179SR1SS controls were easy to figure out with the help of a quick read through the manual downloaded from the GE website. The capacity and wattage are great. Food heats up fast and there's plenty of room for a large microwave bowl or plate. The dimensions are exactly the same as my previous GE Spacemaker microwave (which lasted about 20 years) so the installation went smoothly. Love the 'add 30 sec' button for quick warm ups. Haven't used the airfry setting yet so will have to let you know how that goes. This microwave looks great too.
