[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I first picked up the Z Fold 7, I was shocked at how not clunky it is. Folded, it’s just 8.9mm thick and 215 grams—lighter than a Galaxy S25 Ultra, which is wild for a foldable. Unfolded, it’s a crazy 4.2mm, the thinnest book-style foldable out there, beating out the Honor Magic V5 by a smidge. It’s not just numbers; it feels awesome in your hand, like a regular flagship phone. The hinge is smooth, with a satisfying snap that doesn’t wobble or creak like older models. Samsung says it’ll survive 200,000 folds, so I’m not worried about it falling apart. The frame’s made of this new Armor Aluminum, and the cover screen and back use Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 and Victus 2—tough stuff. It’s got an IPX8 rating, so it can handle a dunk in water (1.5m for 30 minutes), but no dust protection, so keep it away from sand. I got the Jet Black version (there’s also Silver Shadow, Mint, and a cool Blue Shadow online exclusive), and the matte finish doesn’t turn into a fingerprint mess. It comes in four colors, and I dig how sleek the black looks. But it’s so thin, I’m paranoid about dropping it. The camera bump makes it wobble on a table, and without a case, it feels like holding a fancy glass sculpture. Samsung throws in a slim case, which is nice, but I’d grab a sturdier one if you’re clumsy. Honestly, this is the first Z Fold I’ve carried every day without feeling like I’m lugging a brick. It’s a phone when I’m running around, a tablet when I’m chilling—best of both worlds.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'll be honest, I had the Fold5 and was planning on jumping back to the S26 Ultra when it came back out. Extra thick five with unimpressive battery life made me conclude the folds were not worth it.
But then the Fold7 came out. It's so much thinner, significantly wider front screen, and most importantly insanely improved battery life! I know Samsung is advertising their Galaxy AI as a reason to upgrade, but it's the simple design changes that's the real reason. It's the battery life, it's the thinness, it's the improved screens.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] There's so many tricks and convenient apps on the updated Z Fold 7. AI has been a learning curve but it's just something more to learn.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great size and weight improvement over the past version. Amazing weight savings. I'm carrying a tablet in my pocket and it's not at all cumbersome. Software works well and I don't miss the SPen functionality.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have owned and loved the 4 most recent Z Fold models and Samsung hit it out of the park with this one. I miss having the S-Pen but it's easily worth the improvements to the size of this phone and the performance is excellent and Galaxy AI is actually useful!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great phone. I've had all the fold bar the Fold 2. All have been small incremental upgrades until this point. The Fold 7 is a reimagination of what a Fold should be. At this point you really don't have to use the inner screen. Most will be ok with just using the other screen thanks to the new form factor. The size and weight of the device is just revolutionary. Other noteworthy upgrades are the camera. Galaxy AI features a also got a boast too. A truly special device.
