I got this product about a month ago and have been using it almost non-stop since. For installing it has these great insulation panels that slip into the side extensions. I was surprised to see it also has a clean air feature you can turn on to remove pollen and dust from the air! It keeps my studio apt nice and cool and it doesn't have to run all the time either. Thankfully it's quiet too.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I researched what I thought was carefully before choosing this model because it had all the features in which I was interested. The owner's manual is available for download and I studied it carefully. Not carefully enough! If you read the manual and I recommend you do so, observe that most of the features have "(some models)" next to them. What that really means is that THIS MODEL DOES NOT HAVE THAT FEATURE! Here is a paragraph straight from the manual. Read it carefully and then I will tell you what it really means.
Note: The unit will run in energy saver(econ) mode when
used for the first time. In this mode, the fan will continue to
run for 1 minute after the compressor shuts off. The fan then
cycles on for 20 seconds at 10 minute intervals until the room
temperature is above the set temperature, at which time the
compressor turns back on.
One of the features this model does not have is the thermostat in the remote. The only thermostat is in the A/C unit (apparently directly in the air flow path). If the room temperature is 80º and you set the A/C thermostat to 68º (which you can do with the remote if you are within 3 feet and the remote is pointed directly at the A/C front panel), when you turn on the A/C the compressor and fan will start. In about 30 seconds the air temperature coming out of the A/C will be less than 68º so the compressor will shut off and the fan will continue to run for 1 minute. Then the A/C will sit quietly for 10 minutes until it turns on the fan to test the air temperature. It may or may not be high enough (inside the A/C where the thermostat is) for the compressor to start. If not, the fan will shut off and wait another 10 minutes before testing again. When the inside of the A/C gets above 68º then the next time it samples the air temperature the compressor will start and run for 30 seconds or so until the air temperature it is blowing is below 68º then the compressor will stop and the fan will blow for another minute.
So here I sit in a room where the temperature is 80º with my new A/C set to 68º. Every 10 minutes the compressor will run for 30 seconds and the fan will run for another minute. In 10 minutes the fan will run for another minute. The A/C cooling for 30 seconds every 10 or 20 minutes and the fan blowing for 1 1/2 minutes ever 10 minutes doesn't seem to be having much effect on the room temperature. It's still 80º in here.
I would give it 0 stars, except the review system insists I must give it at least 1. But don't think that 1 star rating means it has any value at all. Well, I guess if your window was broken out, you could use this to plug the hole.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
