I was iffy on whether or not I would like the squircle design but now I love it! It is thinner, lighter, and the screen feels bigger. I like the design updates like the buttons being a little more flush and the quick change straps are amazing, they are so much easier to change out now. I also feel like the health tracking is more accurate than my previous Watch 5. The only thing that would make this even more phenomenal is a little bit more animations in the watch faces or transitions.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Battery life is awful

Samsung galaxy 8 battery life is awful. Sometimes not lasting through a day even with battery saving settings on, low light and only touch activate. I can't wear it to bed because I have to charge it every night. Also not fast charging as it says in description. I can't get my texts to show up on the screen. I have to manually go to the text app which is frustrating. I don't think the watch is worth the hype or thr high costs. It takes about an hour to charge. Other than that, I like the features, different customizable display, and being able to receive phone calls, text or other notifications.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Good day Jenna, Thanks for providing us with detailed feedback regarding your experience using your Samsung Galaxy Watch8. Your critiques provide valuable insights that will assist us with improving our product line. Samsung provides a 12-month warranty on our products for manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship. We also have Samsung Care+ as an option which can be added to an eligible device. It's similar to extended warranty and an insurance package combined that provides protection beyond the standard manufacturer's warranty. It may cover events like accidental damage, mechanical breakdowns, and potentially theft and loss. Samsung Care+ offers you the ultimate peace of mind when it comes to protecting your investment. The Galaxy Watch8 40mm model comes with a 325mAh battery, and the 44mm model has a 435mAh battery. Both options offer up to 30 hours of use in Always On Display (AOD) mode. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Galaxy Watch 8 is notably the first smartwatch to ship with Google’s Gemini AI out-of-the-box . Samsung positions it as the ultimate AI‑powered wrist device, combining advanced health tracking with smart voice features.
AI Features with Galaxy AI & Google Gemini Voice Assistant Gemini: You can now interact with Gemini directly on your wrist over Wi‑Fi or LTE – ask to “summarize your last email,” send messages, or save notes like “where I parked” – all without pulling out your phone .
Energy Score via Health Assist: Galaxy AI calculates a daily energy score based on sleep quality, activity level, and heart rate variability. It gives a quick sense of physical readiness and recovery status .
Sleep Coaching & Guidance: Features like Bedtime Guidance and Advanced Sleep Coaching offer custom bedtime prompts and multi‑week improvement plans .
Health Tools Enhanced by AI Antioxidant Index: Using skin LEDs, the watch estimates your carotenoid levels for weekly insights into dietary health—a feature still evolving in accuracy .
Vascular Load Monitoring: Tracks arterial resistance and stiffness during sleep, alerting you to potential heart stress trends over time .
Running Coach: After an initial 12-minute evaluation, the AI creates adaptive training plans (up to 160 different plans), helping you train smarter while reducing injury risk.
Design, Hardware & Wearability Classic design return: The stainless steel case and rotating bezel revive a tactile, traditional look.
