[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The self cleaning Bissell Revolution Hydrosteam upholstery cleaner is to date my favorite steam cleaner. The machine did clean messes as advertised but I got a little more than I bargained for I feel. I had odd things to tackle such as my truck seats and kitchen tile floor at the time so l went for it. My truck seats saw a lot of action last summer and looked sad. River water stains and coffee the husband frequently spills came right out. I'm impressed with how clean my kitchen floor was after a very quick run over. I used the steam on the tile and sticky weird under the may things came up with ease. I do not think it would have worked so great or felt so clean without the steam, I loved it!
I also cleaned my couch seats and a rug. The handheld does not function with the steam but overall judging by the ick tank full of brown water, the dirt came out!
It takes mere moments to heat up and be ready, the water reservoir is simple to fill and emptying the bottom reservoir is just as simple.
After using the machine I used the self clean function to make everything fresh and new again. I loved not putting away a dirty machine or taking it apart.
Overall I am surprised at how much I enjoyed using it and I look forward to doing it often. Really wasn't a chore.

The steam of dreams

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was really impressed with the overall cleaning power of the Bissell Revolution HydroSteam Carpet Cleaner. It felt powerful but still lightweight and easy to maneuver, which made the whole process much more enjoyable than I expected. It honestly felt like using a luxury appliance—the design is sleek and attractive, and it just feels high-quality.
It did a great job tackling sticky and stuck-on messes. I noticed areas that normally take a lot of effort came up much easier, especially when using the pretreat function, and it was really satisfying to see the dirt and grime getting pulled up out of the carpet.
The steam power is AMAZING. Seeing the real steam in action made it feel like it was doing a deeper clean than a typical carpet cleaner. The amount of dirt in the dirty water tank (thanks kids and dogs on a farm) also proved that it WAS doing a deeper clean (yuck). I really appreciated that it uses actual steam—it gave me confidence that it was loosening grime and sanitizing at the same time.
The self-cleaning function on the stain tool was also fantastic. It was incredibly easy to use and took almost no effort. You basically just run it and the machine cleans itself. It was quick, simple, and worked really well, which makes cleanup after using it so much easier.
Overall, I loved using this cleaner. It’s powerful, lightweight, easy to maintain, and honestly fun to use. Between the steam feature, strong suction, and simple self-cleaning cycle, it made carpet cleaning feel much less like a chore.

Before you toss your carpets try this wet vacuum

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I first got my hands on the Bissell Revolution HydroSteam, I approached it with skepticism. "Real steam" in a carpet cleaner sounded like marketing hype, but I was genuinely impressed. The cleaning power delivers, and what really won me over was how this machine handles the stubborn jobs that usually make me want to give up entirely.
I had actually resigned myself to replacing the carpet in my living room after countless attempts at scrubbing stubborn stains by hand on my knees. But I decided to give the Revolution HydroSteam one last shot at revitalizing it. I absolutely hate wet carpet cleaners because they take days, or at the very least hours upon hours to dry, leaving everything soggy and making it feel like nothing gets accomplished. After just one use, I wasn't just pleasantly surprised, I was frankly completely amazed at how close to fully dry the carpet was after the entire process. This is such a game changer.
The steam, which initially sounded like a gimmick, is absolutely worth it. You can literally see it working to loosen dirt and gunk. I was quite skeptical, but the steam power function is legitimately one of the best features here. There's a noticeable difference in the sections where I used the steam pretreat. You can clearly see from my photos where I used the steam pretreat; there's a cleaner line where the treated carpet meets the untreated areas, which really demonstrates the difference this feature makes.
I'll be honest, I was bracing myself for a messy cleanup nightmare. But the self cleaning cycle is actually pretty straightforward and intuitive. It's easy to run and does a solid job of flushing out the gunk so you aren't left with a smelly machine sitting in your closet. I generally dislike cleaning my cleaning supplies after using them because it feels unnecessary and like extra work, but the design for this maintenance was so intuitive that it was actually satisfying. It was like using a blackhead pore strip to see all the gunk and grossness come out of my carpet (which I vacuum daily!). That really drove home how well my vacuum actually works and how much time it saves me.
One minor note: the spinning brush doesn't come off easily, as you have to remove some screws and disassemble part of the machine. However, the HydroSteam comes with a tool that helps clean the hose door section and removes hair from the brush roller. I wasn't looking forward to that part since that's where you see the majority of the gunk on display (like a car windshield covered in bugs after a summer drive through the South). But the cleaning tool meant I didn't even have to touch the dirty part. I just had to wiggle it around and let the hot water do the work. Problem solved.
The machine is surprisingly easy to push around, and the sections that need to be removed for filling with water and emptying dirty water are mostly easy to hold and transfer. The one thing I wish could be improved is easier access to the spinning brush, as the screw removal process is a bit cumbersome. I'd also appreciate a slightly cleaner design in the areas where the steam originates inside the machine.
For a deep clean that actually tackles the impossible spots, the Bissell Revolution HydroSteam has earned its keep and is now a permanent member of my household.

Amazing Machine

The Bissell Revolution HydroSteam is an impressive carpet cleaner that delivers powerful performance while still being easy to move around. It feels durable, well-built, and capable of handling everything from routine carpet maintenance to deeper, more stubborn stains.
Early on I found one of the most noticeable aspects of the HydroSteam is its strong cleaning performance. The HydroSteam technology helps break down tough, set-in stains while lifting dirt and grime from deep within carpet fibers. I used this in our master bedroom while we wait for our new furniture. It provided the perfect opportunity to test all the features.
Setup is quick, and the controls are intuitive, making it easy to switch between cleaning modes depending on the type of mess. The water tanks are simple to remove, fill, and empty, which makes the overall cleaning process much more convenient. Despite its powerful performance, the cleaner is very easy to move around larger carpeted areas and even stairs.

Stubborn Stains be Gone

1. It works!
The cleaning power is top-notch. We’ve had a horrible coffee stain on our light carpet for months and went over it with our old cleaner about five times. The stain never even faded. After one use with this machine, the stain is nearly gone. (I missed a spot in my “after” photo, but you can clearly see how much darker that area is compared to the rest of the stain!) One more pass and I’m confident it will be completely gone. It honestly saved us from an expensive carpet replacement.

5. Much quieter than other machines
Previous cleaners we’ve used were so loud I’d have to have my husband take the kids outside so we wouldn’t hurt their ears. This one is quiet enough that I used it while my daughter was napping!

To top it all off, this cleaner actually looks chic, which I love. As a (sometimes clumsy) mom of two messy, fun-loving kids, this machine has quickly become a staple for maintaining my sanity and managing the everyday chaos.

Bissel is officially better than Shark

If you’re going to listen to any review, listen to me because I’m obsessed with clean floors and have purchased several carpet & upholstery cleaners over the years and have a good idea of what to look for in these machines, and can quickly tell if it’s worth the investment, whether or not it’s made cheaply, and what sets certain machines apart from others. I’m low income, so I understand how big of a deal investing in something this expensive can be. I won’t lie on reviews to save others on a limited income from the heartbreak and disappointment of putting their hard earned money into something like this only for it to not live up to said expectations. So I’ll do my best to give you as much details as possible, and they’ll be honest.

I also have children that just last week stepped on a container of jelly that was left out on the rug, making it explode. So this carpet cleaner couldn’t have come at a better time! It was the perfect match up against this machine, and I think I have a good 2 cents on its performance.
The overall cleaning power and its strong suction was impressive, even on a shag rug!! It cleaned way better than my old machine ever did(A Year old Shark CarpetXpert with StainStriker). There are 3 cleaning modes, Steam Pretreat, SteamWash and Max Clean. I was actually surprised by how little water was actually being distributed, yet how thorough of a job it was doing. It seemed to deep clean thoroughly and left it looking and feeling refreshed and like new. It had no problem cleaning up that sticky, dried on jelly stain, it pulled up dirt, and took the cat and dog smell away completely. I didn’t have to make multiple passes either to get those results. It seemed to clean it thoroughly the first time as long as you take your time with it. The instructions are easy to follow and straight to the point, so learning how to use it and how long to make each pass, won’t be an issue. It comes with a detachable hose and 2ntools for upholstery cleaning, which did an impressive job cleaning my couches, and had a very powerful suction, which I can’t say the same was true for my old carpet cleaner. It also came with 2 sample bottles of cleaning solution which were helpful!

It even has a quick dry mode which is a godsend, but even without using it, it does such a good job at sucking the water back up that my rug barely felt damp and wasn’t noticeable to my kids or mother who were doing gymnastics on it within 20 minutes of me cleaning it.
As for the Steam Pretreat Mode, it loosens everything up before you start the cleaning process which is so cool! And I think that it made a huge difference in the results I got! So don’t skip over that part! The steam function isnt just marketing hype, it really does improve the results you get by effortlessly cleaning through grime with the heat of it and lifts stains effortlessly.

The best selling point on this thing is the self cleaning cycle which is easy to use too. Just run it after each use, and the tools flush clean automatically with no hassle or gross buildup. This is a very important step, and I feel like if my shark carpet cleaner would’ve had this, then it wouldn’t have gone downhill so fast, especially if you have animals in the home that shed. It’s extremely tedious and time consuming work to unclog and clean everything by hand once the machine stops cleaning like it’s supposed to, and 9 times out of 10 it never gets completely cleaned because you can’t find the source of the problem easily.
The machine itself is a bit heavy, which is to be expected, but you’re supposed to be pushing it around, not picking it up, so it wasn’t an issue for me but I could see older people possibly complaining about that.
This machine is 100% worth every penny, and it’s not a purchase you will regret a year or more later. I have never had a better carpet cleaner than this that literally has all the bells and whistles. I am so impressed!! Bissel is officially better than Shark!

Just what we needed

This steamer vacuum tackles all kinds of messes; not only on rugs and carpets, but also upholstery! When you have two young children and dog, the cleaning never ends. The steamer is easy to set up, and use; and even better, cleaning it is super quick and convenient with the self-cleaning cycle. The real steam comes in extremely handy when tackling sticky messes, as it helps loosen the substance. We are extremely satisfied with the quality of this product.

Dream Steam Machine

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] With two large Labs and three kids under nine, my carpets are constantly being tested. We used to have a carpet cleaner that didn't have a heat function, and while it was better than a towel and spray, it never felt truly clean. This Bissell Revolution HydroSteam is on a completely different level.
The amount of dirt and brown water this machine pulled out using the steam was eye-opening. Remember, I clean my carpets with a regular carpet cleaner and the Bissell Revolution HydroSteam showed how much dirt was still left behind Even with pet accidents or toddler messes, the stains were gone in just one or two passes. The steam really knocks out those set-in stains that usually won't budge.
It’s also surprisingly easy to maintain. Everything snaps apart easily, and the catch-and-clean tray was full of hair and debris—proof it’s actually digging deep into the fibers. To help with drying, I followed the directions for "dry passes" to suck up as much water as possible. The carpets were damp but dry enough to walk on pretty quickly with fans running. I also set the tanks outside after rinsing them to speed up the drying time of the machine itself before putting it away.
Just a heads-up: it goes through a tank of solution fairly quickly if you’re doing heavy-duty cleaning, so expect more than a few refills for a whole room. But the fresh scent of the Bissell pet cleaning solution leaves behind is worth it.
It gives me peace of mind knowing the floors are actually clean enough for my kids to play on.
