Powerful Cleaning Machine

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am extremely impressed by this carpet cleaner! I have used spot cleaners in the past, but never a full size, upright carpet cleaner. When I first opened the box I was intimidated, but there was nothing to worry about. I had the machine put together and ready to use in less than 10 minutes. The instruction manual explained everything thoroughly and made it very easy to get started. The machine is sleek and looks very nice. It's not big and clunky like one you might rent at a big box store, and I appreciate that. This maneuvers like a vacuum cleaner and is much easier to move around than I expected. The first thing I tackled was the seats of the barstools in the kitchen. My toddler uses them daily and they were pretty stained. The hose and upholstery attachment popped on with ease. There is no steam option when using the hose, but that wasn't a problem. The solution worked really well to tackle the stains and the bristles on the attachment allowed me to scrub the fabric. Five minutes of work and all of the stains were completely gone. I was shocked! Next I moved on to the playroom. This room probably gets the most foot traffic in our house. The suction and scrubbing power of this machine is impressive. I used the steam function for this task and it was definitely helpful to remove some set in stains. The steam can be used to pretreat and clean, and I just feel like my floors must be more sanitary after a good steam clean. The clean water tank is a really good size. I was able to clean two barstool seats, the armrest (top and side) of my couch, and two rooms in my house before I ran out of cleaner. More cleaning time with fewer refills is a win in my book. And, fair warning, you will be absolutely disgusted by the dirty water tank when you're done cleaning. My house is only a year old and I CANNOT BELIEVE what the water looked like when I was done. That alone tells me how great the cleaning power of this machine is. I also really enjoyed the self cleaning functions. When using the hose and upholstery attachments just a simple flip of a switch takes you to a self clean mode. Pull the trigger and the water sprays and stays within the attachment to clean out all of the dirt and pet hair. When it's time to clean the roller simply open the door on the front of the machine, pop out the roller, rinse, and replace. I was really worried about cleaning up the machine after using it, but it really could not be more simple. I could not be happier with the Bissell Revolution Hydrosteam, and it will now be a staple in my cleaning routine.

Powerful cleaner for the worst messes

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Bissell Revolution Hydrosteam is a beast when it comes to having to clean up the worst messes. I've been using it for a few weeks and - unfortunately - had more than enough opportunity to put it to the test. On rugs and carpets, the Revolution Hydrosteam does a fantastic job cutting through fibers and separating messes, while the strong suction helps to get everything up. On hard floors, the steam makes cleaning stuck-on messes so simple while hearing, seeing and feeling the steam reminds me that my floor is cleaner than it was before. My favorite part is how it's built to handle the biggest messes. The tank is massive so I'm spending less time emptying and refilling, and instead am able to knock messes out in one hit. There's no getting around the noise, however, so expect a loud process. But the noise - to me - is a reminder that there's a lot of power being generated and helping me to get my house back to normal. Nobody likes cleaning up big messes, but a tool like this is good for when the time comes.

Amazing cleaning tool
on March 14, 2026

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Bissell Revolution Hydrosteam is a mom’s dream machine! As a mom of four busy boys and a fur baby, keeping our floors clean is quite a task. It seems like there are always muddy footprints or smudges and drops of random stickiness around our house. This product is extremely durable, relatively quiet and easy to use. It has simple ‘how to’ instructions with pictures making it easy to get started. Other cleaning tools we have used in the past feel exhausting to use over any amount of space and tedious to clean in comparison. I was impressed with the overall cleaning power. In the photos, you can see that our light carpet was covered with spots of dog throw up, mud, and coffee drips. I used the pre-clean steam setting, as well as the main steam feature. The steam feature felt powerful and truly clean. It was amazing! This machine seriously took only a few moments to get rid of all spots extremely well. The cleaning solution went further than I thought it would and allowed me to keep going to clean other much needed areas. It even helped get up extra fur out of the carpet.
I was impressed by how well it not only cleaned, but also vacuumed up the gunk. I’ve also used this machine on my other floors and have been impressed with how easy it is to use. It truly made cleaning the floors feel less cumbersome. LOVE the self cleaning tool. Seriously! Could all cleaning supplies please come with a ‘self clean’ feature?!very easy to use! Overall, a great product!

Powerful cleaner with all the bells and whistles
on March 14, 2026

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This carpet cleaner has been incredible so far! I'm a busy working mom of a young toddler and a dog who hosts family and their pets regularly in the suburbs. So, we see a lot of random messes and stains. I will read instructions to get an initial understanding, but then prefer when something is easy to access and use without too much complexity.
Design & ease of use: This cleaner packs a lot of power and functionality into a nice, sleek design. I love that it's multi-functional, so I can use it to deep clean my carpets and then use the hose attachment on couches or chairs. I prefer to reduce clutter in my home, so it helps when I can consolidate appliances into all-in-one options. For a powerful stand-up machine, it was very simple to assemble and easy to maneuver across multiple kinds of carpets. The included storage bag is a small thing that made it easy to keep all of the attachments and the instruction manual in one place. Swapping out attachments was really easy, and they clicked into place very sturdily. The water compartments are also easy to fit under faucets and can sit flat on the counter to make sure you're filling up to the right line. I love how it takes up the same footprint in my cleaning closet as a normal stand-up vacuum, and I'm a huge fan of the bronze/copper accent color!
Pets: I tested it out first using the included Pet Pro oxy urine eliminator pet solution to clean some old stains that I found at my parents' house under a chair when moving things around. Despite the spots being there for likely months, this cleaned all of them almost instantly and the carpet looks like it was never dirty (before and after photos included!) Because of the included instructions, I didn't use the pre-steam functionality on this area and had great results. I was shocked at how easy it was, and the carpets dried same day.
High-traffic carpet: Then, I used the Pro Max clean + protect solution on some seasonable Christmas rugs. Filling the water compartment to the small area line, I was able to apply a significant amount of solution and still clean 3 rugs - one 3x5 area rug, one rectangular kitchen runner, and one indoor doormat. It was incredible to see how dirty the water was after! It really picked up a lot of the dirt and salt from the winter snowy season here. Both cleaning solutions smelled really pleasant afterward too.
I loved being able to use the steam power after applying the solution to really get a good deep cleaning in and help start the drying process too. It only takes a few minutes to get into a rhythm and figure out what works best for your carpets.
Take their advice though and vacuum up before you use it to clean! But also, huge shoutout to their filter system for catching the dog hair and loose fibers (that I couldn't even see) without gumming up the internal mechanisms. It was very simple to wipe the filter with a small towel and it was ready to go again.
Overall, this is a fantastic machine that's easy to use in multiple essential ways, is quite powerful, and has a small footprint for the functionality it offers. I'm excited to continue trying out all of the different accessories and cleaning solutions on different kinds of messes that pop up with a toddler and dogs!

decent for basic carpet cleaning
on March 14, 2026

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This carpet cleaner worked okay overall. It was able to clean my carpets using water and the cleaning formula, but there were several things I did not like about it.
It did a decent job refreshing the carpet and picking up general dirt. My carpets definitely felt a bit fresher after using it. However, it struggled with tougher spots. There was a stain I specifically wanted to remove, and even after going over the area multiple times with the steam and suction, it wasn’t able to fully remove it. So while it works for basic cleaning, it didn’t perform as well on sticky or stuck-on messes.
Also, while cleaning, a lot of dust and debris accumulated inside the brush head. I had to frequently stop and remove clumps of dust or else balls of dust would just stay on the carpet. My carpet may have been particularly dirty, but having to do this many times was frustrating.
I did appreciate that the machine uses real steam, and the steam power function was a nice feature to have. It helped loosen some dirt and gave the carpet a refreshed feel, but it still did not fully remove the tougher stains.
The self-cleaning cycle was a helpful feature and fairly straightforward to use. It makes rinsing the vacuum easier but you still have to clean other compartments though.
There were other drawbacks as well. The power cord is pretty short, so I had to keep moving to different outlets while cleaning larger areas. The drying time also took longer than expected. The instructions said the carpet should dry in about 3–4 hours, but in my experience it took closer to half a day.
The machine itself is also fairly large and heavy to move around. Cleaning the brush head requires removing screws, which makes maintenance a bit inconvenient. You also really need to read the manual carefully to understand how to operate everything properly, so if you are new to carpet cleaners there may be a bit of a learning curve.
On the positive side, the water tank held enough solution and water to clean my entire bedroom and more, which was great since we do have a fairly large area. I also liked that it came with additional brush heads and a smaller cleaning attachment so you can clean smaller areas without moving the entire machine.
Overall, it’s an okay carpet cleaner. It works well for general carpet refreshing and basic dirt, but it struggled with tougher stains and some design issues.

Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. We’re glad the machine helped refresh your carpet, but we’re sorry it struggled with tougher spots and that maintenance felt inconvenient. Stains that are set in often need pretreating, and debris shouldn’t be building up that quickly, so we’d be happy to help troubleshoot. Please reach out to us at support.bissell.com so we can make this right.

Survived My Dog and 2 Toddlers
on March 14, 2026
Posted by: MessyToddlersMom
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My husband and I have tried carpet cleaners before, and while they did make a difference, it never seemed like a very noticeable one. I didn’t think the Bissell Revolution HydroSteam would be any different, but it ended up exceeding my expectations! The cleaning power was genuinely impressive. I didn’t even realize how dirty our rugs and carpets were until I used it and saw the color of the water in the dirty tank. It was shockingly very very brown. My husband is a bit of a clean-freak so this was very exciting for him.
For context, our house is not exactly gentle on carpets. We have a dog who loves tracking in whatever he finds outside and seems to believe that rugs are the ideal place to vomit. On top of that, we have two toddlers who have made “making messes” a competitive sport. Me against them and they typically win. Between spilled snacks, mystery stains, and muddy paw prints, our carpets get tested regularly. The HydroSteam handled all of that better than I expected. Some older stains took a second pass, but most of the sticky and set-in spots came out pretty easily.
I’ve noticed over the years that our rugs have become flatter due to everyday wear, but, after using the machine, they actually look more refreshed and a little fluffier again! I didn’t expect that, but it made the whole room look cleaner.
The steam function built into the machine was probably my favorite feature. I think it definitely helped loosen tougher spots. It made a huge difference on those tough stains that we haven’t been able to get out in years. Also, the machine looked pretty cool while using the steam function. With the steam coming out, it kind of looked like a dragon breathing smoke across the carpet, which at least made cleaning a little more entertaining.
I also appreciated the Steam Pretreat mode for stubborn areas. Being able to hit a spot with steam first helped break it up before running the cleaner over it.
The machine itself is fairly straightforward to use. The clean water tank is large enough that I didn’t have to constantly stop and refill it, which was nice since I was doing multiple rooms. Maintenance was easier than I expected too. I’ve never used a carpet cleaner that was so easy to clean. It’s so easy, you can clean it in between each use before storing. All of the parts that need cleaning just pop right off so you can rinse them - the brush roll cover, pop tray, etc. - and move on.
A couple of small downsides: the machine is a little bulky and takes up a decent amount of storage space. It’s also not exactly lightweight when the tank is full. That said, in my experience, most full-size carpet cleaners are similar in that regard.
Overall, I’m really happy with how well the Bissell Revolution HydroSteam cleaned our carpets and rugs. Between the dragon-like steam feature, scrubbing brushes, and the large water tank, it handled the kind of messes that come with pets and kids much better than I expected. If your carpets deal with the same chaos ours do, this machine definitely pulls its weight. Bonus benefit: my parents are jealous that my carpet cleaner is better than theirs and now they want to borrow mine.

Bissell Revolution Hydrosteam

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I thought the overall cleaning power was really impressive. It handled everyday dirt easily and made a noticeable difference in the areas I cleaned. What stood out to me was how well it worked on resistant areas. Spots that usually take repeated passes lifted much faster than I expected.
The steam function was a standout feature for me. It felt like it gave the cleaning process an extra level of power, helping break down grime and leaving surfaces feeling genuinely fresh. I also appreciated that it uses real steam rather than relying only on cleaning solution.
Another thing I really liked is the versatility. The smaller attachments make it easy to clean furniture and tight spaces. I’ve used another, smaller product for years for upholstery and spot cleaning, and this machine can do everything that one does while also handling larger carpeted areas. It also heats and steams on its own, whereas with the other product requires you to add hot water yourself and it gradually cools down while you’re using it.
The self-cleaning cycle was also very convenient. It was straightforward to run and made cleanup after using the machine quick and simple, which is something I really appreciate after tackling a bigger cleaning job. Overall, it feels like a versatile machine that works well for both small upholstery jobs and larger carpet cleaning. The only gripe I have is how clunky it is, as are most carpet cleaners. It’s really heavy and a bit difficult to maneuver, but overall would recommend.

Full steam ahead

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve always settled for cleaning things by hand, which has never worked very well. I wish I could go back in time and buy this Bissell Revolution Hydrosteam years ago! With kids, pets and farm animals it’s hard to justify new furniture, but I was almost to that point. Our carpets and furniture were getting so bad we didn’t want to have people over. A couple tries with the Bissell and things are looking great!
The Bissell is really easy to use. The directions in the manual are very simple and easy to follow. All of the parts and pieces are easy to attach and detach which is important because they need to cleaned after each use. I appreciate that it came with two solutions so I could test a few things before buying a full size bottle. One thing I learned while using the hose is it does over spray quite a bit, so be prepared with a rag to clean things up. The self cleaning feature is so cool and you can see it working. After following the self cleaning directions I also rinsed all the parts and pieces with water until they ran clear.
The steam feature is amazing and I think that’s what makes the product better than other options. The steam was pulling out long term stains before even using the cleaning feature. The cleaning power was mind blowing. As you’re using the hose or the carpet cleaner you can see the machine actually cleaning with cleaner and the dirty water tank filling up. The water being a brownish-grey was really eye opening! I will be using this not only when we have sticky hard to clean messes, but as part of our cleaning routine to keep the house fresh.
