Easy installation

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The deadbolt to my door was broken, this came at a perfect time. Installation is easy. This did require an app to be downloaded in order to set up the code. That was the only inconvenience, I wish it didn’t require and app. I like how I can lock the door without entering a code.

After having the nest Yale lock for years I got this matter version. Setup was painful due to some instruction being confusing on how to press and hold for the matter connection for 10 vs normal connection to Yale app. Also the quality is just not as good as the nest Yale version. Lastly it jams a lot. I never had this issue before. I’m going to be switching back to nest Yale lock.

Given that this is a matter device, I expected it to integrate seamlessly into my smart home, but it does not. It does not work well with home assistant at all, requiring that you enter the passcode any time you try to unlock remotely meaning it will be difficult to use for automations. Even in Google home, the ability to create automations is mediocre at best. Despite having door sense technology, there is no way to have it automatically lock when the door closes, only automatically locking after a set period of time. There is apparently no way to return the lock after installing it so buyer beware. The lock itself seems otherwise solid and the number pad works fine which is the only reason I couldn't give it one star.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We purchased the Yale smart lock with matter and we couldn’t get it set up. We have a house full of smart devices that all connect to google home. We had to purchase an additional device specifically to communicate with the lock, which was trial and error and frustrating in itself. When we purchased and set up the correct device, the lock still would not set up. Terrible experience and we will scrap this lock and purchase something else.
We have had a different Yale smart lock in the past at a different residence and really liked it, so this was a major disappointment.

Good smart lock option

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was a great lock for my front door when it worked! It was easy to connect to the app. For the actual installation, I had a locksmith install. Unfortunately, I must have gotten a dud because it started getting finicky after about a month. A cousin of mine also has the same one and it’s given her zero issues so I must have a faulty one. Otherwise, it’s very sleek and felt secure.
