I was thrilled to hear we are getting another transformer, as I have waited my whole life for this. I am just disappointed as the cost of this. As a child I would have never been able to get this toy and it is disappointing to know there are kids out there who will never get to enjoy how amazing of a set this is. Other than price I have no complaints, this is by far the best transformer they have released and I pray they continue to keep this going.

Awesome build. I hadn't been this excited about a release since Rivendell and it didn't disappoint. Far superior to Prime from a build process and integrity standpoint. Great creativity and variety. Plus, the sound brick has far more clips than the preview/demo seemed to suggest. Wholeheartedly recommend.

This set is better than the previous Lego Transformers. The character design is a good fit for Lego. The build is pretty involved, but you end up with a great finished product. It’s the extras that set this apart though. You actually get three fully transforming characters. The brick built boombox for the display stand is adorable. The sound brick though is so amazing. The classic lines, sound effects and music is great.

I grew up with Beast Wars rather than G1 Transformers, but if you had asked me which Transformers I would want Lego models of Optimus Prime and Soundwave would be top of that list. I’m very excited to have both of these on my shelf now. They’re great building experiences, and having a Lego that converts into something else is amazing. You can also tell that with each Transformer set Lego is getting better at the conversion element. As much as I love the Optimus set, it’s fragile due to all the moveable parts, but Soundwave feels a lot more sturdy. I hope Lego keeps making Transformer sets!

Old line but very true. Trying to figure out what your making with each step is part of unraveling the fun.
I decided that Soundwave wasn't complete without Megatron. So...I created my own using some spare Lego components. I even made my own version of Soundwave (non transformable).

The interactive elements on this model are multitudinous and all of them are extremely fun and addictive to mess with. Every button and click is tactile, and I feel sorry for the ingot piece that opens the cassette bay, because it will soon be worn down to a stump from how often I press the button just to see the screen pop open again and again. Ravage and Laserbeak were nice as built-in appetizers, lending a natural foretaste to what building their owner would be like. Lego Transformers have had a special place in my heart since I was in middle school; every day I would come home from class, break out my box of pieces, and turn on the latest MINDxBENDER video, trying to implement the techniques he used into my own transforming vehicles. This set reminded me that the fondness for the craft never goes away. I don't imagine he'll collect any dust on my desk.
The hands fell apart pretty easily during construction, but that's the only downside of this model to be honest. I plan on making MOCs of Soundwave's other recordicons to broaden out his family, so the fun doesn't really end with the set itself. Can't wait for more official Transformers down the line!! (Hopefully Wheeljack??)
