This grill was not as well built as my 12 year-old genesis that I just disposed of. I could tell right away that the panels were thinner and the top was also not as thick as my original. Also on the back it was not a full cover, but just a half cover. Also the grill is harder to start than my original grill. It also has two wheels instead of four. It just seems like the quality is lacking from your original grills. I guess you were just trying to save money.

I have used my Spirit E425 now. I will have to say that it performed better than I expected. I love the searing function. I grilled the best tasting steak I have ever grilled. I do wish that I could have used my tank scale on this new one. That is a feature that I will very much miss. The gauge that I had to buy is not as visible to see the tank level as I have been use to since owning Weber grills. Hopefully they will bring this feature back in future designs not that it will help me but help others who make a Weber grill purchase in the future. My only regret right now is that I elected to purchase the Spirit instead of the Genesis.
Hadn't bought a new Weber grill in 20+ years (and that's a compliment!) and needed a new one after we moved to our new home. The Spirit E-425 was my choice and it has exceeded my expectations...the four burner setup, two of them making up the Sear Zone, are top notch efficient and effective. I also chose the natural gas connection option, which has been a tremendous upgrade. Cannot more highly recommend the Spirit E-425
All is good except that there are only two wheels. It is a fairly heavy grill, so lifting the one end without wheels can be a challenge for older people or those with health issues. We have limited storage space so it needs to be wheeled in and out of our garage before and after every use. Having four wheels sure would make this job much easier.
I hate it. It’s not working and since it’s 90 days out, I’m working with someone on line trying to troubleshoot this. I’ll be honest with you, my husband bought this and while I know do the cooking on the grill as he has dementia and can no longer run the thing. I’m almost 70 yrs old and now trying to figure out how to fix everything. There’s got to be a more user friendly way to get this done. And no, it should have lasted longer than 6 months
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
