Temperature troubles

Great grill but I can’t get temperature down under 450 degrees
Response from weber.comBy Consumer CareWeberApril 27, 2025
Thank you for choosing a Weber gril! We appreciate your feedback and we understand your frustration. New grills are more reflective inside and tend to run hotter. However, by reducing the number of burners in use, you should be able to achieve low and medium temperatures on your grill.

We are here to help! Please look for an email from our Care team. Thank you!

Won’t stay lit

We just bought this grill and cannot got it to stay lit. We make sure the burners are all off and turn the propane tank on. We waited 60 seconds then turned the knob furthest to the left on by pushing in the knob for two seconds then turning to high. I hear it snap. The burner lights but as soon as I let go, it self extinguishes. Also, only the front part of the burner lights up. We have tried all 4 burners and they do the same thing. We have repeated these steps over and over again. We’ve turned the propane off and started the process over again as well. Nothing we do makes it stay lit. I’ve searched for videos on troubleshooting how to light the Weber Spirit but none get into showing you how to light it.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We apologize for the frustration, and we are here to help!

A bad connection to the LP gas tank could cause the issue with poor ignition.

Thank you for your feedback and for choosing a Weber grill! Your grill should easily reach 500F, which is hot enough to cook and sear. We apologize for any frustration you've experienced.

If your grill is not getting to that temperature, there are a few things to check. Let's start with the easy stuff:

1.) Please make sure you consider "High" on your control knobs to be the first spot to your left (the 9:00 position).

2.) Please make sure you're always cooking with the lid down except when flipping the food halfway. The second you open the lid the heat escapes, and you'll need to close it to let the temperature recover.

3.) It sounds like your grill may be in a safety mode known as “bypass." What’s happening is that the regulator thinks there’s a gas leak, so it reduces the pressure.

Perform a soapy water leak test to check for leaks. If there is no leak, follow these instructions to reset the bypass safety mode. This is not only the reset, but how you want to light your grill each and every time.

Open the lid
Make sure all knobs are in the off position
Turn your LP tank on all the way
Wait 60 seconds
Turn the first burner to start/high
Hit your igniter
Turn on remaining burners one at a time and set each to high
Close the lid
Let your grill preheat to 500-550°F

Grill functions well but we’re disappointed because the paint is already fading or melting off despite us keeping it covered and inside a covered lanai.

A Great Grill!

I have been a user of Weber grills for more than 30 years, all charcoal. They have been without doubt the finest grills available on the market today. I happened to see the E-425, did some research, and decided to buy a propane grill for the first time in over 25 years. I am.glad I did. This is a great grill with incredible temperature control. It is extremely well made with well thought-out functionality. I miss the flavor that charcoal.provides sometimes, but still have my Performance kettle when needed. My sole issue with the E-425 is with the assembly instructions. It is pictures virtually only and oftentimes they don't matxh the required step. Once together, however, that issues was quickly forgotten when the grill's performance became.obvious.

I highly recommend this grill. Awesome Weber quality, easy cleanup, and grill is ready to go in minutes. I would purchase again. I prefer charcoal when time permits, however I do enjoy using this gas grill.

The burner lighters are very problematic to ignite the gas. Each time I use the grill I must try and retry the igniters.
