The grill is pretty sturdy (sturdier than most) but still doesn't get nearly as hot as a charcoal grill will. I think the flavor bars are farther apart than on previous incarnations of the Spirit Grill. For a steak, I'll still use charcoal even over the Sear Zones.

Nice grill but I wish Weber would not keep changing their successful designs. This has a new ignition system, activated by simply turning each knob, but without an ignitor button you lose some control over the ignition process. The handle is attached differently, and the unit has only two wheels. Have to wait and see how it holds up!

Terrible Product

I would steer everyone away from this grill. I bought and returned this grill three times before giving up. Each time upon unboxing the product and beginning assembly, there was significant damage to the product and each time the damage was to a different part. There was a lot of bashed and bent metal on all three occasions and even damage to the main piece itself on two of the occasions. There is not enough time in the day to purchase and return an expensive product like this on three separate occasions and still be left without a product in working order. The retailer comped a professional assembler on tries 2 and 3 and even they couldn't believe their eyes. I am not sure if the packaging is terrible, the manufacturing is bad, the product is made cheaply or if there is a lack of care in handling. In any circumstance, it's totally unacceptable that I wasted all of this time purchasing and returning the product. I am done with Weber for good. Awful, awful product. Time to start researching other options...

An average grill. The griddle cannot be uses without an additional purchase of a support system that they don't tell you about until after you buy their flat top. additionally, I wanted a rotisserie for my Webber. Researching the correct one for use on the E-425 was a nightmare. I finally received some help from the call center and ordered what they said was the correct kit. After installing the kit, which was easy, I tried to roast a 4 lb chicken. I found that the grill lid would not close properly. The lid set directly on the rotisserie spike. The motor mounting bracket was not the same as the one shown in all of the videos. The motor itself was very loose on the bracket and would shift to one side when the motor was switched on. The rotisserie kit is useless as designed. I put the chicken in a cast iron skillet and finished it in the oven.
As far as grilling goes, this Webber works well. steaks on the grill are great, switch to the flat top and burgers turn out well. As in any grill there are hot and cold spots the one learns thru use.
Recommend a more through research than what I did before you buy this grill. Know what features you want or expect to come with the grill, price them out and see if it is worth it to you. I really expected better from Webber
