So far so good...

The Approach S50 was purchased because the Venu watch I was using would exhaust the battery in 18 holes, had to make sure it came right from the charger to the course. The S50 is much improved in regards to battery life. I like the fact I don't have to preload courses prior to heading out to each course. GPS figures out where I am. What I don't like is the wrist band. I don't have large hands, but struggle to get the band on and off. I'll purchase an after-market band that's both elastic for comfort, and opens with a clasp so that putting the S50 on/off is quick and easy. For the purpose of analytics, I do wish the score keeper tracked putts separately instead of one score for the hole.

Great golf watch - Questions about fitness feature

I have been using my Garmin Approach S50 for about 2 weeks now. Love the features related to golf. My golf club has 27 holes and it easily detects which course I am playing. I like being able to input my stats and see how far I hit may ball. The watch is also very comfortable.
When I bought the watch I was intrigued by the ability to track fitness stats. I am a long time user of another fitness device and was hoping to be able to have one watch that I could use for golf and would also track my fitness goals and stats. My one complaint is that the step count is significantly different than my current fitness device. I have been wearing both watches for the past 2 weeks and the Garmin is consistently 2000+ fewer steps than the reading I get on my current fitness device. Heart rate, activity levels and sleep metrics appear to be roughly the same and I am intrigued by the metrics like Body Battery. The device sometimes indicates I have taken a nap when I haven't taken one, but I just laugh and ignore that data. The step count being off so significantly is keeping me from stopping the use of my current device and this is why I gave a rating of less than 5 stars.

Only one major flaw

I been wearing the watch for nearly a month and love all the features. The only flaw - the strap loop connection. The nylon strap barely fits through the metal loop and you need a very steady hand and two teeth to grab the material and pull through the loop.

I really enjoy many aspects of the watch for golf. I also wanted it for playing my music when I run. I haven't been able to try that yet, but it seems a bit complicated to get that all set up.
