I think it is a fad item. If a person wants a fresh cup of coffee every cup it is great. If you want a pot of coffee there is nothing special about it. It seems to be a bit of a pain to clean and the desalination solution is expensive. I didn't need to clean my regular brewer for a couple years. The Keurig stopped brewing a full cup after a couple months. Too much trouble.
Pros: Multiple Settings, Stylish, Brews quickly
Cons: HARD TO CLEAN, Doesn't brew a full cup

This is my first time using a Keurig machine and I love it. It has been a little less than a month and I had no problems with the machine. I love this brewer. Easy to use and so many options and so many option of coffee to use. LOVE IT!!!!

K550 - a step backwards

Nothing will replace my Platinum Edition Keurig that finally died after 3 years. I was hesitant to buy a 2.0 brewer due to the sensor/pod restrictions. After finding a work around I caved and burned some points on the Keurig site to get the K550 at a reduced price. For a flagship model it lacks some functionality that I had on my last brewer, like temperature control or setting a preferred brew size. This unit is definitely more noisy than its predecessor as well... the pump sounds like it cycles on and off repeatedly to move water through the system. My last brewer had a constant (and less noticeable) groan to it. If I didn't keep this one in a cabinet with a closing door it would probably be a deal breaker in the office. The K550 does make a decent cup of on-demand coffee. It's no french press, but I bought this thing for convenience. It came with a water filter starter kit, so it has that going for it right? I have not tried the K-Carafe yet so I'm unable to review the results. Thanks Keurig, for the free pods for this review
