No water temperature control coffee fails to brew hot enough. No clock display when unit is turned off. In order to enjoy the nite light the unit needs to be on 24/7 thus heating water 24/7 which is expensive. We are all attempting to save money.
Pros: Easy to use
Cons: Limited Features

2.0 VS Vue
on September 20, 2014

This model, 2.0 (K550) is replacing my Vue model. I received my 2.0 (550) last week. I was a little disappointed that the coffee was definitely on the weak end. I thought it might be the cups I purchased, so I brought a few home from work....still weak. I tried messing with the settings, nothing. Even the strong setting made a WEAK cup of coffee. This morning...I decided to make a carafe. MUCH better, stronger coffee. Not quite 4 servings of my coffee mugs, but we did get 2 full cups plus a little extra. BUT....it tasted like coffee, finally. THEN.....I decided to do a bit of research. The carafe cups are longer than the vue cups, but same design. I looked at the vue cups.....says Kuerig 2.0! I did notice with my last order last month that the lids did change to the 2.0 stamp. LOW AND BEHOLD.....i put one in the machine....a whole new set of options open up. 8oz-16oz cups plus the carafe option. My opinion......buy the Vue cups! Better tasting coffee than the regular cups if you don't like watered down coffee. There are ALOT of Vue flavors. I don't know why the brew strength is different with this machine, but it is weaker. I have an old Keurig at work, only 2 options, 6oz cup or 8oz cup. 8oz cup brews a mean STRONG cup of coffee. I do like this machine so far, now that I have opened up these options. I will go back to the VUE cups for myself. Hope this helps!!
Pros: Lots Of Size Options
Cons: Not Enough Flavor, Roasted Too Light, Thin Or Watery Mouthfeel/Body

I love my old Kerig machine but decided to get the more advanced model with coffee pot bre option. Unfortunately when I got it home it would not accept my Starbucks or Peets KCups. Only those with the Kurig stamp will work with this model. I returned it immediately and will not purchase another machine if this is their new marketing ploy. Very disappointed!

Broken in 4 Days

I was able to use the product for four days before it stopped working and started spewing out small amounts of dirty brown water. Luckily I was sent this free to review or I would have been even more upset I spent $200+ on it. My old Keurig has lasted 3+ years with no issues. Not sure if I got a lemon or this one is not designed to last.
Cons: Not Enough Flavor, Thin Or Watery Mouthfeel/Body

2.0 sounds like an old wringer washer pump. Doesn't use K-cups without band on k-cup...a lot of money previously wasted. The hot water feature doesn't work, hasn't worked since I received the machine a few months ago.
Pros: Easy to use, Brews quickly
Cons: Hot water doesn't work, Loud

Highly disappointed

We've been using Keurig products for at least seven years. About two years ago, we switched to the Vue system because we had horrible luck with the longevity of the K-Cup brewers. Unfortunately, we had to give up a lot of options by making the switch. When the 2.0 system was released, we were excited that we would have the best of both worlds again - assuming that the new system will be as reliable as the V700 has been. That excitement is gone. If you own any Vue or K-Cup packs that have NOT been produced with the new label, kiss them goodbye because they won't work with the 2.0 system. I tried one and the machine gives an error "Ooops...blah blah blah". We have just over 160 Vue cups that are useless with this machine. We decided to do some comparisons between our V700 and the K550. First issue was temperature inconsistency. The K550 varied by as much as 11 degrees F cooler than the V700. Then we brewed a Vue pack with the 10 ounce setting. We received 10 ounces from the V700, but the K550 gave us 8.5 ounces. It also took far longer to complete the brew. We thought something was wrong with it because the water was trickling out very slowly, yet the pump had turned off and the screen hadn't displayed the "enjoy" logo. The hot water option is also very annoying. In our V700, we simply had to pretend like we were brewing a cup of coffee without a pack in the slot. That gave us the option of 4, 6, 8, 10 and more ounces of water. The K550 will only do a maximum of 6 ounces at a time, and to get that you have to stand there and keep your finger on the button. If you want more hot water, the machine has to go through a preheating mode that lasts for 10-15 seconds before it will allow you to press and hold the button again. That might not sound like a lot, but when you are use to pressing a button once and getting the full amount you desire, it can be very annoying. This problem can be blamed on Keurig's genius idea to implement the "genuine Keurig" label reader. Overall, the machine is far quieter than our V700, but the inconsistencies are severe enough to be concerning. The onscreen menu is simplified which is nice, as long as you remember what number you are supposed to select on the screen. This isn't a problem with a K-Cup though, as the numbers don't matter there. Our desire for the ability to use K-Cups is not strong enough to justify keeping this machine. I'm highly disappointed with it as well as Keurig's decision to implement this "genuine" product idea. I do not and will not recommend this machine to anyone. Someday we may be forced to purchase a new unit to replace our V700. When that day comes, we may be looking elsewhere to satisfy our coffee needs.

Disappointed

I have been a fan of Keurig fan from the beginning but 2.0 is a disappointment. For all the fancy electronics, the coffee is no better and the brewer is less capable. There is no way to change the default 8oz setting so the operator has to reset the size ever time. There is only one setting for hot water (6oz or nothing) and the operator has to hold down the start button down the hole time or the water stops running. When I call Keurig about this I got three different answers; first, I had a faulty system and returned the brewer; second, the new (second brewer) was the same and I was told the I had and early production and later production would correct is; lastly I was told that there was nothing wrong with the brewer. Both my wife and I think the water is not has hot as our old system but this may just be our perception. However, the amount of water dispense when set on 10oz will very between 7oz to the proper 10oz. All-in-all I would recommend the old system but not the new 2.0
Pros: Brews quickly
Cons: Limited Features, Coffee Doesn't Stay Hot

Verified Purchase:No
What a disappointment! I have had Keurig brewers since 2004. I have purchased over 15 brewers for myself, family and friends. I recently replaced my Platinum model, when it finally died, with a 2.0 K550. I expected more from a newer Keurig, not less. I miss my old machine: quieter, custom everyday settings, large cup of hot water for tea, ability to brew hotter temperatures, and the ability to use any coffee brand I choose. I like to use a hot water function but what is up with the crazy small amount of hot water??? This 2.0 K550 brewer will only let you get a max of 6oz at a time!?!. I have to run it 2x's for a cup of tea This 2.0 K550 brewer does not have the option, like my previous Keurig, to increase the brew temperature. The K550 water temp is too low - it is only 157 degrees. My Platinum could be set at 187-192 degrees. I like my coffee piping hot and now I have to stick it in the microwave to make it hot enough. The 2.0 is incapable of delivering a cup of coffee that brews hot enough or that stays hot for more than a few minutes; and for me, that is totally unacceptable. And finally, the coffee itself. In the last year Keurig has discontinued many, many coffee companies and flavors. I loved the Van Houtte brands, especially the Spicy Mayan and the Belgian Chocolate. They were a rich and flavorful coffee. Now they carry very few of the Van Houtte coffees. Keurig has changed to mostly their own company coffee (Green Mtn) which, in my opinion, is a weak, tasteless coffee. AND now, you can only brew THEIR endorsed brands of K-cups in the brewers. Limiting us to buying only coffee brands you endorse is a marketing tactic that I find deplorable. In my opinion this 2.0 K550 is not worth the money and is poorly designed. Absolutely would NOT recommend this brewer to anyone. Someone failed big time with the design of this brewer. I am VERY disappointed with this machine. I've had several Keurig models before, but the 2.0 model is awful. I've been a constant Keurig user for many years, but I am considering exploring other options for my home and my camper. In summary I gave this brewer 2 star rating for the following reasons: 1. Can't program the default cup size to the size I use most frequently. 2. Only offers 4 or 6 oz size for hot water, 3. No ability to set temperature for brewing. 4. Won't let me use generic pods, have to be Keurig endorsed brands. 5. Limited number of brands and varieties available for purchase.
Pros: Easy to use, Brews quickly
Cons: Can't Use Other K-cups, Loud, Limited Features, Coffee Doesn't Stay Hot, Hot Water Oz Too Small, Can't Change Default Size, Discontinued Many Flavors, Long Brew Time
