So Far, So Awesome!

I had another single-serve brewer that performed faithfully for over ten years and was only retired due to difficulty in acquiring pods. I'll admit I was a bit reluctant to look at Keurig due to the expense of K-cups and reliability issues that others I knew had experienced with older Keurig models. But when I was introduced to the 2.0, I loved the concept of being able to brew a pot, if needed, without needing another coffee maker. I must say, after using my 2.0 for about half a year now, I am loving the convenience and variety the K-cups offer. I found it very easy to set up and use. At risk of sounding like a coffee snob, I do find the quality of the brew is not quite what you'd obtain with other brewing methods, such as French press, but you simply can't argue the convenience of the system. So when I want a quick cup of decent coffee, this fits the bill perfectly. I do wish the brew temp was a bit higher, as the coffee cools quite quickly, especially after adding a dash of cream or flavored syrup. We are at high altitude so this may impact that? I frequently find myself reheating my coffee almost immediately. Also, I wish it had a 12 oz. option for some of my wonderfully rich K-cups like Peet's. I end up running a couple of brew cycles on one K-cup for these, so it still works out ok, but a 12 oz. option would be great. I also wish there was an option to run a full cup of hot water, instead of sputtering spurts of 4-6 oz. This becomes even more cumbersome when running the descaling maintenance cycle, which takes forever, as per directions. I finally figured out that inserting a refillable cup that opens up the same menu options as the K-Carafe cups helps to expedite this considerably, but I wish Keurig would implement this automatically, as it would encourage people to run the descaling cycle more often if it weren't such a time-consuming chore. These are all relatively minor points and, overall, my Keurig 2.0 has functioned wonderfully, and I am very pleased with this purchase. We'll see if it is still running ten years from now like my previous coffee maker! Thanks, Keurig, for the free packs for this review.

A bit less than expected

The first machine has better cup size options and brews faster. the 550 hesitates after pressing the brew button. It pumps and pumps and finally pushes out the coffee. I thought that it would be all of the first machine but w/ carafe added. Oh well. I like the touch screen. Other otions ok but are just cosmetic.

I use my Keurig regularly in morning for sure and sometimes in evening too. Before I got Keurig, I always spent so much money buying coffee and breakfast but now since I know I can get a good cup of coffee at home, I even make breakfast and do not leave to work before having my morning cuppa joe!! It's okay

This is my third Keurig in four and a half years; I realize they are not made to last, they are made for convenience. It's a bummer, though. I'm a little sad at some of the changes that have been made; I don't like the fact that we cannot select the size hot water we want and that you have to hold the button to get the hot water. But so you run it twice and end up with an indent on your finger from holding the button. There are worse things. I also don't like that they did away with the 12 0z option. So now I just get the jitters from my coffee being stronger. Again, there are worse things. I do like the color options on the wallpaper and screen. It still brews coffee quickly and that makes it nice to have at home. I can't say we will ever use the carafe. The whole point of switching to a Keurig was so we could have individual cups / flavors. It will do until the next one needs to be bought. Hopefully there will be improvements by then.

My husband and I leave for work about an hour apart every morning, so separate coffee brewing is great. But on the weekends, we like the carafe so we can brew more to share. The only issue we found is that the ounces are not accurate, and we have to brew more than once to fill our travel mugs every morning. It would be great if the ounces went to up to 20oz. at least.
