Not an Improvement

I usually drink one cup of coffee in the morning. The Keuring Brewing system is perfect for my needs. This is my third Keurig Brewer. I had the Elite, which worked fine but was very noisy. I upgraded to the middle brewer, which I loved. In my opinion, this brewer is not an upgrade. First, the pluses. This brewer is very stylish. The water resevior is also very large (but you can also get a larger tank for the brewer I had). The pods for the coffee pot are recyclable. On the other hand, I can't use my own coffee in this brewer. The info states that this is because the brewer reads the white ring around the new pods and makes the best possible cup for you. This is not true. You still have to pick the size cup you want to brew. I pick the size I have always made and the coffee most times tastes watery to me (and I don't like my coffee strong). Not letting it take the refillable K-cup maker is a waste of garbage. No one is going to stop buying K-cups, they're too convenient. I could turn off my old brewer when I was done making my one cup even though it was set to stay on for 2 hours past the last brew. This brewer will not turn off manually, which is a waste of energy. Bottom line, the pros do not make up for the lack of real improvements in this coffee maker. Thanks, Keurig, for the free packs for this review

Water Setting Lacking

2 Drawbacks other wise great. 1. The Hot Water feature is limited to only 6oz of water at a time. This should like the old brewers where you can close the lid select the brew size and get that amount of hot water. 2. No Tea Carafe Packs

Love it. The pros outweigh the cons by a long shot. I drink one cup of coffee every day and I am the only one at my house that drinks it so it fits my needs. I like that it now has a carafe for when I have family over. I like that you can brew hot water easily. It really doesn't take long to start, but it did take longer than I expected based on what I had seen before; probably because it has a bigger tank now. I was very disappointed that I had to give away A LOT of coffee that I bought before because they weren't Keurig approved and I can't use the re-usuable cup that I could before. I am happy that there are a lot of deals once you register your Keurig and order from their store online. It was just a bummer that I found that out after I unpacked my machine. Thanks Keurig, for the free packs for this review. I did write my unbiased opinion about this product.

SLOW! Must hold button for hot water!

The K550 is much slower than my previous Keurig. Two features that I used a lot with my old brewer are not available with this new one: travel mug size brew and hands free hot water. Very disappointed in this new brewer. Recommended my old brewer all the time but not this new K550.

With the original Keurig had an adaptive piece that I could brew my own tea and coffee thru it, not offered. Do like the option of coffee pot brewing, and different volumes of coffee.
