Pricey, but worth it for the coffee love

I drink coffee daily. I like that I can brew carafes because whenever we have people over, they want a cup of coffee. But single serve brewers can take up too much time, energy, & aren't really cost effective. You can't use non-keurig k-cups with the Keurig 2.0. There is a little sensor inside that can tell the difference. Apparently the idea was so it could scan your coffee, hot cocoa, or cappuccino k-cup, recognize the difference, and make the perfect cup. But also to know if you are using a carafe k-cup or not. This also means no make-your-own k-cups that use bagged coffee, but I personally was too lazy for those anyways. Keurig does have some great brands (40+) and varieties (250+) you can try like Donut Shop, Folgers, Eight O'Clock, and Starbucks so really that it doesn't take non-keurig brand k-cups really isn't an issue. When you brew a carafe, the Keurig 2.0 recognizes it by sensor (which I already mentioned), but it also recognizes when you insert the carafe in the station. You can use OTHER features with a carafe k-cup and a coffee mug, so no more watered down coffee for the ones who need more than one cup to get going in the mornings! I love this feature because I like my coffee STRONG! You can still make a weaker cup of coffee with a regular k-cup simply by choosing the option of more water to be added when brewing. The Keurig 2.0 has a backlight which I think is a cool feature especially since change it to any color you want. You can also set the time and a timer for your morning cup o' joe.

Great Product with one flaw

Overall the Keurig 2.0 K550 is an excellent coffee brewer with a lot of functionality and very easy to use. I use it every day and never have an issue with its ability to brew quality coffee in a short amount of time. The coffee taste is amazing, better than any other single cup brewing system. However there is one key issue that keeps me from giving this 5 stars : the limitation on brew size. Whether I want a cup of jet fuel, or one of light brown water, I should be able to make it happen. Some of the K-Cup packs are plenty strong enough to brew 14-16 ounces, however I am limited to 10 at a time. Instead I am forced to brew 10 ounces, open and close the lid, and brew 4 more to get a 14 ounce cup of coffee. This is extremely inconvenient, especially when in a rush. Other than this rather major, yet easily fixable flaw, the Keurig K550 is a quality product.

Cons: Limitations On Brew Size

We each drink two cups a day, occasionally a cup after dinner. My husband gets up early, so we love each having a freshly brewed cup of coffee, that's quick & easy. The Carafe is great when we have guests.

Love Our Brewer, Miss MY Coffee

We love our new Keurig K550 brewer! We love the fact that we can brew a fresh cup of coffee at any time at the touch of a button and in seconds. We also love the 2.0 features like the small carafe that allows us to have a small pot together right away in the morning. The coffee and specialty drinks selection is great, but the drawback is that we are also in love with a coffee we direct order from our favorite café in New Orleans, but cannot make it in this brewer. With a little ingenuity, I have been able to sometimes brew my favorite café coffee, so I am very happy with our choice in brewers. Thanks, Keurig, for the free packs for this review.
