I'm an ex-barista, and let's be honest, I was NOT for the Keurig K-cups. I prefer my coffee freshly ground and freshly pressed. However, once I stopped being a barista and still got up at 4:30 am, that quick brew looked great. I must admit, it's a lot better than I initially thought. I totally appreciate that it's quick and easy and it comes in so many flavors. I still enjoy my french press or pour over on the weekend, but this definitely makes my weekdays much easier! Thanks, Keurig, for the free cups for this review!

The Brewer that has it all

I received the K550 from the Influenster program to test and sample. I can tell you, the K550 is a giant leap forward from my old machine. This one is super easy to use, I particularly like being able to brew a carafe of coffee instead of several cups for company. The on demand hot water feature is helpful to make a simple cup of tea (or one of those noodle things for your favorite college kid). You can customize just about everything with the 550, from the controls to the brew size. I brew coffee each morning, and then take some to go for my ride in to work and I appreciate the flexibility of the strength control. That first cup I make stronger than my ride to work cup. There are two downfalls to this model though. First, it is pretty big. It takes up quite a bit of counter space, but considering what you get with it, the issue isn't a deal breaker. My last Keurig for comparison, was a Mini. The second, and big issue I have is that you can only use the 2.0 branded k-cups. No off brand ones from Aunt Ida or even leftover Keurig cups from my previous model can be used. If you have one of those "brew your own" cups, they will also not work in this model. I'm sure it is a matter of time before all the cups catch up with the technology. Thanks, Keurig, for the free packs for this review.

Needs mug sizes

I like the option for the carafe size, but I don't like having to run the brewer twice to get my mug full. (8oz. And then 6 oz.) Thanks Keurig for the free packs for this review.
