‪#‎HelloKeurig‬ Why do you giveth and then taketh away?

This was originally posted on Keurig's Facebook page October 13, 2014 because the commenting system wasn't working here - "I'm a little frustrated with your website right now. In order to complete some promotional activities for the Influenster campaign I was supposed to leave a review. For weeks I've been going back and back to your website to try and leave a review for the K550 and there seems to be no way to do so. I've even logged into my Keurig account where the unit is registered in the belief that I'd be able to from there but nope. I noticed that the registration information for the K550 is incorrect. Your system says I have an OfficePro machine instead of the Keurig 2.0 K550. I even tried looking at other pages on your website for previous machines I've owned and there is no way for me to leave comments there either. So here goes - ‪#‎HelloKeurig‬ Why do you giveth and then taketh away? When I learned I was chosen for the Influenster campaign for the new Keurig 2.0 line I was ecstatic. My older Platinum machine was on the fritz and I needed to purchase a replacement. I did and still have it plus the new K550 I received from Influenster. I wish I could say I promptly returned the Keurig I purchased because the hundred plus bucks back in my pocket would have been nice. But I hesitate and here's why - Despite all the new features of the K550 like the larger reservoir, the K-Carafe, the touchscreen LED control, nightlight, programmable timers and strength selector I was left a bit unimpressed and disappointed. The nightlights won't work if the energy saving mode is on. The digital clock doesn't display when the unit is off. This is one step backwards. Then I discovered that My KCup was no longer compatible frown emoticon. Step back number two. Then even though I was used to using the normal K-cup cycle to run hot water for tea or hot chocolate that option was no longer available to me. Now I am required to press and hold the button to dispense a measly 6 oz. of water and sometimes that doesn't even come out all the way. At least 2 of the 3 times that cycle is run it is an ounce or 2 short. That wouldn't be such a huge issue if I didn't have to stand there through through 2 whole cycles to get the size cup I want when I never had to do that before. Step back number. The hot water cycle and the My KCup problem is in part to blame on the fact the Keurig now is preventing non-Keurig K-cups from being used in the machine. So any of my old tea or coffee K-cups are essentially garbage. If I were to give it a rating based on their 5 star scale I would have to give it a 2 out of 5 because even with the new features in functionality it went backwards instead of forward for me. I'll take functionality over fluff any day."
Pros: Reservoir Nightlight, Variety Of Cup Sizes, Large reservoir, LCD screen
Cons: Hot Water Button, Digital Rights Management, Alarm Doesn't Work
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Don't like this coffe maker

My husband & I don't like this brewer at all. We have had it for 1 week. Our 1st Keurig brewer, the upgraded Keurig Platinum Brewer, is starting to go after 3 years, so we decided to buy this one using the points I have accumulated from being a member. There are several things about this brewer we do not like. For starters, my husband wanted it for the night light that can change colors. I thought it was a good idea being sometimes you wake up in the middle of the night for a drink. NOT. It's not a night light. It's not even strong enough to light up the water in the tank let alone be used as a night light. The water temperature is only 192 degrees for a cup of coffee and 197 for the carafe. This is not hot enough for us. The temperature is preset from the factory and cannot be changed on this model. We refuse to make a fresh cup of coffee only to put it in the microwave to heat it up further. Our old brewer has 5 mug settings, while this one only as 3. We knew that when we bought it, but did not think that it would be a big deal. However, when you commute for work and use a travel mug, it's disappointing when the brewer makes a half of mug on the 10oz setting (which is the largest setting available on this brewer). I also like to drink tea but I use teas bags. So I use the Keurig for hot water. This brewer only gives you 6oz of hot water at a time. In order to obtain this 6oz of hot water, you have to stand there and hold the brewing button down for the entire time until the last drip falls. SO, to make myself a mug of hot water, I need to stand there and go through these steps 3times. Not very time efficient or consumer friendly. This brewer is going back and I will be looking for a new. Yes, it will probably be a Keurig if I can find one that has a 12oz or larger setting.
Pros: Looks
Cons: Light Not Bright Enough, Loud, Only 6 Oz Of Hot Water, Coffee not hot enough

We use the Keurig 2.0 daily. We would like to be able to adjust the temperature as we could on our old system, and we'd like to be able to use pods we have from the old system in the new brewer.
Cons: Can't Change Temperature

Many issues with this model

I have had many models of Keurig Brewers without any issues. This model heating element burned out after three months. Received new unit from Keurig, but this unit has issue with water being pulled into unit. Making a cup of coffee takes along time and unit did not make 4-5 cups when selected due to issue with water taking extreme amount of time to be pulled into unit for heating.
Pros: Multiple Cups Of Coffee
Cons: Heating Element Issue
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

the k75 aka platinum b79 is awesome and quiet, perfect for making a cup at 6am while my family sleeps. but we wanted to be able to make multiple cups of coffee for when family comes over. so we just purchased the k550. Its ridiculously loud. And wakes up my kids just heating up the water, not to mention when it actually starts brewing. also the water is on its highest setting and feels like a cup of coffee that has been sitting out for 5 mins at the time it is dispensed. warm at best. I like the idea of the carafe but it doesn't keep the coffee hot for more than a few moments. and even what it does make (in a 2-3 cup setting) taste watered down and really weak. Also why change the custom cup? i like my local coffee ground up and have to buy new filters for it. Don't worry about the consumers, its just money....
Pros: Filter, Multiple Settings, Touch Screen
Cons: Loud, Warm Coffee, Cold Carafe, Weak coffee

NOT HAPPY

I purchased the 2.0 K550 because I thought it would be the best. I previously had the Keurig Platinum and loved it. I've been using Keurig for many years. The K550 water temp is too low - it is only 157 degrees. My Platinum could be set at 187-192 degrees. I like my coffee hot and have to stick it in the microwave to get it hotter. You can not set the regular k-cups to a 12. Sure you can with the mug size but you also don't get as many k-cups. If I hadn't given my Platinum to my sister I would definitely be returning the K550. I'm seriously thinking of purchasing the Ninja Coffee bar. A friend has this and loves it.
Cons: Cannot Save Size Cup, Water Temp Too Low

So disappointed

I bought this as what appeared to be the best replacement for our Keurig Platinum that recently died. I miss out old machine: quiet, custom everyday settings, large cup of hot water for tea. Why, when everyone seems to want it, would they not allow an option to brew more than 10oz with a K-cup. I realize this is their preferred optimal brew amount, but I'd be much happier for them to suggest up to 10 oz, but allow me to make it bigger if I choose. And what is up with the crazy small amount of hot water??? I don't want to run the machine 3 times to get a simple cup of tea. Someone failed big time with that part of the design. Very disappointing, especially for the price. I give it 2 stars since so far it is working as it should, but just a very poor design.
Pros: Good Small Cup Of Coffee
Cons: Plastic Carafe, No Favorites For K-cup, Long Warm Up Time, Water not hot, Largest K-cup Is 10oz, Hot Water Only 6oz
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

If your current one isn't broken, don't be like me and buy the new shiny one. I need to get this piece of junk replaced. The screen had issues from day 1. Old k-cups don't work, always has issues with the needle. Should have stuck with my old one. No drip tray for cups larger than small coffee cups, so it drips on your counter.
Cons: Constant Needle Cleaning, Needle Cleaning No Work, Drips On Counter, Screen Never Works
