Keurig 2.0 is a Big Disappointment!

I was looking forward to purchasing a third Keurig unit. I bought a K460 and when I got home I read that it forces you to use their select product! I was shocked that Keurig would stoop to adding technology to force you to use their coffee! I buy 95% Keurig coffee but to force you is just going to far! I returned it today and am going to purchase a competitors unit! This is going to Backfire on you Keurig!

beware advertized mug sizes

This is my 7th Keurig and have been completely satisfied until now. I own 2 B70 machines which can make travel mug sizes and assumed this K550 would do the same as advertised. It does BUT you are FORCED to buy different new pods to do so which cost $1.00 per cup instead of $0.62. Seems like corporate greed.
Pros: Brews quickly, Easy to use, Durable, Easy to clean
Cons: Limited Features

I dont have an issue with the DRM built into the Keurig 2.0 K550 machine. I knew about them before I bought the machine and still bought it. They make tons of varieties and I am sure that you will find one that suits your needs. I wanted the machine because of the ease of use and the ability to make a stronger cup of joe in the morning. My issue with the machine is the fact that it breaks down frequently. We have had 4 in just over a year. The first one we bought and the other 3 were warranty replacements directly from Keurig. I give them 4 stars on their warranty. You have to ship back the brew head to them so that they know you are not using the old one. The first one started to clog in the top needle. When you call they walk you through cleaning the head with a paper clip. Then they tell you you that if you use the correct water coffee grounds wont clog the needles. After 3 calls to customer service they replaced it under warranty, RIP Keurig 501.3200.0059292, 2 weeks old. I had to send the complete machine back, they paid shipping. I thought it was a fluke, the second was great, but then it clogged to. I did the paper clip clean out and it would work for a few days then clog again. I called customer service and they tried to blame the water. I nipped that one in the butt, we have a water conditioner system that softens and filters water before coming into the house. Then they tried maybe the water is to clean. Sorta scratched my head on that, its not like we have distilled water or RO water just softened and filtered through a carbon block filter to give it a neutral pH and no chlorine. They replaced it under warranty but this time I had to ship the brew head back to make sure that I was not going to use the old machine. I paid return shipping for the brew head. RIP Keurig 501.3200.0243739, 10 months and 2 weeks old. The third one sounded differently at the end of the brew cycle, like its forcing high pressure water through the needle to flush out any ground that may have entered the brew needle when closing the lid to puncture the k-cup. I thought, this is a good thing, maybe they are fixing the clogging issue. They may had but I will never know, this one on occasion would not stop brewing. Twice I walked back into the kitchen to see the brewer still brewing and see coffee pouring over the top of my mug and onto the counter. It only shut off when I lifted the top. I called customer service and they said that they would send out a replacement. Yep free of charge, just send back the brew head. RIP Keurig 501.3200.1660541, 2 months and 2 weeks old. At this time we are past the original warranty period but they say that the warranty starts over with every new machine. At this rate I will never have to buy another machine, plus when Im waiting for the new machine I just pull out the old trusty Keurig B70 Platinum and just have regular strength coffee.
Pros: Easy to use
Cons: Unreliable

Nice machine; disappointed with filter
on November 16, 2015

We are very disappointed with the lack of brewing temperature control, and the poor quality filter holder. The coffe isn't hot enough when freshly brewed, and doesn't stay warm for long. Very frustrated with the filter. Plastic holder broke with first replacement, and broke again with second replacement. The 2nd time the bottom piece stuck to the water reservoir. After much struggle, and use of pliers, we freed the broken filter piece. For such an expensive machine, I would expect it to have the standard brewing temp controls, and a higher quality filter holder. Once this machine lives its life out, we will not buy another, or we will revert to a simpler model.
Pros: Stylish, Brews quickly, Multiple Settings
Cons: Coffee not hot enough, Coffee Doesn't Stay Hot, Poor Filter Design

Thank you for your most recent review. We are sorry to hear that you’re disappointed in your purchase of a 2.0 Brewer. That’s certainly not the experience we wanted you to have. The behavior that you’ve described in your review is certainly not typical of the brewer.
We would love to find a resolution that suits your needs. Please contact our corporate office directly with the serial number from the brewer to discuss the options available to you. Please contact our corporate office at 1-877-208-9991. Representatives are available M-F from 8 a.m.–5pm EST to assist you.

Must hold Brew button while descaling!!!

I am considering going back to my old Platinum model. It has more features. I do like that I can remove the entire brewing basket and k-cup holder to clean the jets - but descaling is a REAL PAIN. And no hot water over 6 oz. Improvement suggests building upon good features, not removing them. You need to condict usability testing in a BIG WAY!
Pros: Does Not Clog As Often, Large reservoir, Easier To Clean Water Jet
Cons: Descaling Is Tedious, 6oz Limit On Hot Water, No 12 oz setting

Disappointed

I just bought the K550 to replace my old machine that had stopped working. I came home excited to try it with one of my K-pods. I had 5 boxes left of my favorite Keurig pods. I followed all the steps to set up the coffee maker and set out to make my first cup when the display said my pod was not Keurig brand (it was!). I replaced it with another, making sure the K logo was there. Same result. I just found out this machine won't work with my pods (I need to buy new ones). I don't like to waste perfectly usable coffee. I am so disappointed!!! Also, the hot water feature is disappointing, too. It's slow, only produces a small amount of water (not enough to fill one regular size mug), you have to keep the button pressed the whole time, and you have to lift and lower the handle every time, even if you haven't placed a K-pod in. I bought this machine because my mornings are extremely busy and I needed a fast solution. I guess I'll continue to use my grind'n'brew Cuisinart. It's more work, but it has never disappointed me!
Pros: Stylish
Cons: Hot Water Is Slow, Can't Use My Old K-pods, Not Enough Hot Water

Disappointed by Keurig

We bought the Keurig 2.0 K550 with much excitement & anticipation This one brewer would replace my use of an almost 20-year old Cuisinart machine (morning coffee) & the combo of French press or pour-over that I use to serve individual cups in the afternoon/evening. Unfortunately we were VERY disappointed with the 2.0's performance. Here's why: when a company sells a coffee machine, it enters into an implicit pact with the consumer; basically, the company's product will produce a hot cup/pot/carafe of coffee. This is what we consumers expect, at the very minimum, from a coffee brewer. The 2.0 FAILS to live up to this pact! Unless you drink your coffee very quickly, it goes lukewarm within minutes. So for me, I take my mug straight from the 2.0 to the microwave for additional heating -- what the heck? This should NOT be a part of the coffee brewing process! I didn't have to do this with either of the 3 brewing methods I used prior to buying the 2.0! The beauty of the 2.0 is that is also can brew a carafe, so there (theoretically) is no reason to keep your old coffee machine. Well, the 2.0 comes with a non-thermal carafe, & there is no heating plate like traditional coffee makers to keep your coffee warm. So if you brew a carafe, you should plan to drink it all within a few minutes -- for instance, if you're serving 3-4 people at one time. To me, not providing a thermal carafe or hotplate is another example of Kuerig not fulfilling the pact with the consumer, but if you do your research before you buy, you should know this ahead of time (which was my case). Yes, I had read all the complaints about the lack of a thermal carafe and/or hot plate (as well as the incompatibility with older pods) & I just chalked them up to Keurig trying to make more money (I don't like it, but I understand it). So I purchased the 2.0 knowing that I'd have to cough up more money for a thermal carafe. It's unfortunate, but I knew it going in; therefore, these "issues" did not affect my rating. The bottom line on my rating: the 2.0 is incapable of delivering a cup of coffee that stays hot for more than a few minutes, & for me, that is unacceptable. I have used different KIeurig brewers, both single pod residential & commercial machines, & the 2.0 is the only one that fails to fulfill this basic pact with the consumer. Would not recommend it until they fix this problem. Now my wife is thinking about replacing the 2.0 with a Ninja system. Imagine -- almost 20 years with a Cuisinart (which still works great), & in less than 6 months, we're already considering a replacement for the Keurig 2.0. Note to Kuerig: Please tell us that there is a way to adjust the temperature setting! Or allow us to bring our 2.0's to a licensed repair shop who will make the adjustment for us.
Pros: Looks great, Plenty Of Features
Cons: Non-thermal Carafe, Last Step - Microwave, Not hot enough

Love Hate Relationship

I loved my daughter's Keurig so I bought one after hers died. I got a new better one. I love the fact that I can make one cup at a time. BUT the coffee dribbles out of the machine. It usually doesn't make the right amount of ounces so we have to run it thru again. I just wish someone could fix the things. I sent a request to Keurig and they said they would get back with me. Still waiting. My husband's job takes him everywhere. He asked an office manager how she didn't have a Keurig and she said they got tired of replacing them.
Pros: Can Make A Cup Or Caraffe, Hot Water On Demand, Adjustable Cup Size, Ease of use
Cons: Have To Run It Twice, Filters Are Expensive, Doesn't Get Very Hot, Descaling Is A Torture, Dribbles Out, Doesn't Brew All The Ounc
