This is my third and favorite Keurig. I purchased this unit for a second home, but think it will be traveling with me. Heats up very quickly. I love the many brewing options. I am the only coffee drinker in the house, so the single use is perfect and the carafe is perfect when I have company. I do hope that some of the specialty coffees and hot chocolates are soon available for carafe brewing.
Pros: Large Pot, Stylish, Easy to use, Multiple Settings, Durable, Easy to clean, Brews quickly
Cons: Coffee Doesn't Stay Hot

Thanks, Kuerig, for the free packs for this review. I love the controls being in front. I don't like how finicky the brew button is. Also, the tabs on the filter holder are near impossible to release and break off. Over all, this is a great brewer.

I use this Keurig daily for single use, but the carafe option is great for when I entertain. It is very user friendly. I do wish there were more carafe pods though. I am a cafe mocha drinker (2-3 cups each morning) and would love to be able to buy it in the larger pods. Thanks, Keurig, for the free packs for this review.

New but not so improved

The K550 is very nice looking and the large 90 ounce water reservoir was great. That's it. I use it for 6 cups a day and my wife uses it for hot water for her tea. The "hot water on demand" is the worst design they could have come up with. You still have to open and close the brewer to get it ready to dispense hot water, then hit a touch screen button, and then you have to stand there and physically hold the water button down until the entire 6 ounces SLOWLY dispenses. If you touch the button and release, you get just a drip of water. Huge step backwards in that function as our old Platinum brewer dispensed any of 5 sizes of hot water faster and in fewer steps. So my wife immediately hated it and went back to our old Platinum brewer. I tried the Carafe function and by the time an entire carafe was brewed, the coffee was luke warm because this thing brews SLOW! The regular size cups are not nearly as hot as my old brewer. No auto brew function for single k cups. And it brews even regular sizes much slower than the older one. So I'm stuck with this brewer as I threw away the box anticipating another excellent brewer. The K550 is definitely not an improvement and I'd return it today if Keurig would take it back. I Immediately bought up 2 older Brewers that I know work well and this K550 is now on the shelf collecting dust. People buy Keurigs for the SINGLE cup function. That's your market, people that don't want a pot of coffee. Dump the carafe and silly colors and make a good brewer!!

We bought this for our Lake House and the entire family enjoys it. It is great that we can set the auto brew feature and have a k-carafe pot brewed when we wake up in the morning!
