the carafe that comes with it does not keep the coffee hot....will probably get the insulated one soon...does not offer brew sizes larger than 10oz except for the carafe size....its my understanding that is going to change at some point in the future....i have already had to call customer service because this brewer actually stopped brewing..i had to clean out the needles after only one week of use and that did improve some but im very skeptical that it will happen again soon......Thanks KEURIG FOR THE FREE PACKS FOR THIS REVIEW
Pros: Stylish, Multiple Settings

Replacement Keurig for Platinum Series

I received the Keurig K550 as a replacement for the Platinum brewer which had the "Prime" issue. It is a comparable brewer in size and features. Keurig was extremely helpful in replacing the original defective item and shipping was super fast so I would only be a day or two without a coffee machine. My only dislikes for this machine are the lack of sizes the coffee can brew (12oz and up) and the lack of temperature adjustment (I like my coffee scalding). Thanks, Keurig, for the free packs for this review.
Pros: Easy to use, Brews quickly, Versatile, Stylish, Durable, Large Pot
Cons: Limited Features, No Temp Adjustment

Love the brewer in spite of the DRM

The K-550 marks our fourth Keurig system since we first switched from Tassimo to Keurig. We have enjoyed each of our Keurig brewers, though we have experienced many of the common issues with the brewers failing to make full cups, brewing slowly, etc. Despite using the water filters, our brewers seem to give up the ghost after about two years of service. When our B-70 began having some of the same issues (likely due to the pump wearing out), it was time to consider our options and whether we would upgrade or switch brands. I looked into some alternative brewers like the Nespresso and the Starbucks Verisimo, but we really like the K-Cup selection from Keurig, so we opted to stick with our usual brand. But this time I decided to go with the "top of the line" consumer brewer in hopes that it will last longer. So I redeemed some of my Keurig Club rewards points and got a great price on the K-550. We've had the 550 since December, 2014, and so far we are generally pleased with it, though there are still a few areas that could be improved. Pros: - Though we haven't used it yet, I like the carafe option. - I do enjoy the bells and whistles of this brewer, even some of the purely cosmetic ones like the ability to change the color of the backlight. I like the versatility with brewing sizes and the touch screen. - So far the brewer seems to be holding up, though it will take a lot more time and use to determine that. Cons: - The hot water system is just ridiculous. The reason that I chose the 550 over the other Keurig 2.0 models was the hot water function, as I enjoy drinking tea and don't always want to use a K-Cup for that. But you have to actually stand by the Keurig and *hold down* the button to dispense hot water. This wouldn't be so bad, except that even if you're standing there and holding down the button it will only dispense six ounces of water at a time. Ridiculous. We worked around this by cutting the bottom out of a K-Cup, washing it, and we now just use that K-Cup on the 10 or 12 oz. setting to dispense hot water. You'd think a $199 coffee system wouldn't require surgery on a $1 K-cup to get it to work the way you'd like, but there you are. - The DRM. I won't spend a lot of time covering this, as it's been discussed at length in other reviews. Personally the DRM isn't that big of a detriment for us because I did specifically choose the Keurig with the intention of buying official K-Cups. But what DID annoy and surprise me was that I couldn't use some of the K-Cups -- purchased *directly from Keurig -- that I already had. The DRM also means that favorite brands and blends (such as the Timothy's variety box) are no longer available from Keurig. There are still plenty of others to choose from, but I miss that Timothy's variety box. - I'm finding that more coffee grounds are getting stuck in the needle of this brewer than my past brewers. I am using the same coffee blends (all official Keurig K-Cups) that I've always used, so I'm not sure what is causing this, but I've had the needle get clogged on the brewer two or three times already. This isn't a huge problem, but it would be nice if the brewers were easier to clean, either by making the needle assembly detachable, having some sort of internal mechanism that could be used to pierce through the needle opening from the top, or including a "clean" function that could shoot a higher pressure jet of water through the needle. As it stands, I have to use a toothpick or skewer to push the grounds up through the needle, then I have to run two or three cups of water through to clear out the grounds. Though my list of "Cons" is longer than the Pros, I really am happy with the brewer and its function. Several of the additional pros that I would add are those that apply to all Keurig brewers -- I love the convenience and ease of making a quick single serving of coffee (especially since I always seem to get the measurements wrong). I do wish that K-Cups were biodegradable and I hope that this is something Keurig can address in the future, but meanwhile I'm pretty happy with the selection of coffees and the brewer itself. Thanks, Keurig, for the free packs for this review!

This product is quick and very simple. The coffee is hot and as good as the brand and style of coffee used. The old style K-cups are not usable so don't even try to use them. Thanks Keurig for the gift for writing review

It feels as if Keurig forgot about where they came from. Cannot use any older cups I have left, and they seam to be muscling out the compitition by not letting other manufactures cups to be used. Also the prices on the website keep going up, to include shipping. Slowly increasing is fine but two big jumps this past year make it cheaper at the grocery store
Pros: Brews quickly, Multiple Settings, Easy to use, Stylish
