The carafe is a spectacular feature, especially for company. Our kids like the idea that they can brew their own coffee preferences. Thr grandchildren love the hot chocolate. So you see that it gets a lot of use! We bought Keurigs for all of them! Great product.

Issues with the Carafe Brewing

I use the single cup feature daily. Only use the Carafe when my children are in town. Sometimes the carafe setting does not brew a full pot as it should.

Great product however I wish you have a larger brew settings because I have a 14oz mug I use every morning and have to run the brewer twice to fill my mug.

I absolutely love this machine, the design and features are very nice. It quickly brews my cup or carafe, and is extremely easy to clean. I love the huge variety of products that can be used in this brewer. The only con I have is that some off brand coffees cannot be used in it. Thanks keurig, for the free packs for this review. It is greatly appreciated, and i hope my review helps others determine if this is right for them.

Opportunities for Improvement

Keurig is a great company. Wonderful customer service people. Appreciate the free coffee in exchange for this review. This is my 2nd brewer. I dearly loved the Platinum version of the Keurig. I see some areas for improving this new model. 1. when brewing a travel mug, the drip tray has to be removed. Underneath is my white counter top! the platinum had a flat plate attached to catch drips if the drip tray was removed. BRING IT BACK! 2. Auto off nullifies the auto warm up.. Must set arem up for less time that auto shut off. WHY? 3. tried 8 types of coffee so far and most brew bitter tasting. Same size cup as I brewed to 5 years in Platinum version. Why? no one knows. I still love my Keurig and would never be without!

Hit or miss - poor quality product

Very poor quality product, far apart from their original coffee makers (B-40, 75 Platinum edition, etc). I am on the 5th coffee maker (Keurig 2.0 - 550), within 6 months of purchasing the first one as an upgrade to my Platinum Edition. Have regretted changing to this new one from day one. Calibration has been totally off, sometimes it gives 2 oz. sometimes 7 oz. sometimes 4 oz. without changing the settings. The needles need to be cleaned constantly, otherwise not does not work properly. One of the replacements sent, the water reservoir did not click in (useless), another one had the front silver portion of the coffee maker loose, you could see it from far away that it did not fit in properly. In other words, if I could, I would have returned for my money back. Finally, the fifth coffee maker received is a bit better, still the calibration is off, but at least it works, however I have only had it for less than two weeks, so hopefully there will be no more mayor problems with it. I am an old customer of Keurig who started with them with a B-40 and graduated to the Platinum edition and it troubles me to say, "very, very poor quality for the money spent". "Thanks Keurig for the free packs for this review", it should offset some of the many k-cups lost while the coffee makers did not work properly.

Cons: HARD TO CLEAN, Loud, Coffee Doesn't Stay Hot

Great versatility!

I have had multiple Keurigs. I use a Miniplus in my office, and we have a Vue at home as well. I purchased the 550 with a carafe because I got a great deal on it with my club points, and we were eager to try out the carafe feature. Honestly, I didn't think we would use a carafe, but my husband and I use it almost daily, and it's extremely easy to use. I purchased the stainless steel carafe so the coffee would stay hotter, and we're not disappointed. I haven't used the carafe that came with it, so I cannot compare. My favorite thing about this machine is its versatility. At first, I was concerned it didn't brew regular Vue cups, and we like the recycling feature of the Vue, but it brews every kind of Keurig coffee that has the current sensor, so we try to use Vue cups or the carafe cups, which are all recyclable. My biggest complaints about this new machine is that I have not found a carafe-style K-cup that makes coffee as strong as I like it, so I encourage Keurig to provide more diversity in its carafe varieties. The carafe setting does not allow you to choose "strong" for the brew, so we mostly brew 2-3 cups rather than 3-4 hoping that will make it stronger, and we've gotten used to it. I also don't like that you cannot brew more than 10 ounces for a regular K-cup, but you can get around this by brewing 6 and 6, so it is possible to use the same K-cup twice. Other than those minor issues, we love the machine and being able to brew any kind of Keurig style cup in the machine. I love the auto timer on the carafe, and I find the machine fast and quiet enough. Overall, we are very pleased and glad we went through with this purchase.
