The pot worked for a few weeks. Then suddenly the k-cups started exploding in the maker and making a terrible mess. Research online showed many others having issues. Found youtube vid on how to take apart & clean it, did that. It brewed 1 cup fine, then the next cup, same issue. We repeated the cleaning process numerous times, and it just kept to this pattern. It's deliberately made so you can't use the refillable K-cups. And there needs to be a 16 oz setting. The plastic coffee pot is useless for keeping coffee warm. You have to buy the stainless one for extra, and it's not very well insulated either. I eventually went back to my old keurig which I've loved for two years now and is still working great.

Another Example of Corporate Greed

After 5-6 years, my trusty Keurig Platinum is on its last limbs. For Christmas, I was gifted a new Keurig 2.0. My excitement was quickly thrown off by the fact that it won't accept any of the off-brand k-cups or the "my k-cup" pod. This is a prime example of corporate greed (and a racket), so I'll be returning this unit to the store. I'll also be switching to a new type of brewer after mine goes completely. Thanks for nothing, Keurig.

Doesn't Stand Up to Previous Keurigs

This is our 4th Keurig. We've been happy with the first three (one got clogged: our fault, one got scaly: wouldn't clear out, one we own at a separate residence). This one has two major flaws from our point of view: 1. It will only dispense 6 oz of hot water at a time for tea--that is not a cup! AND, even less convenient, we have to hold the button down the ENTIRE time. (Note: If you don't drink tea, this wouldn't be an issue.) During breakfast, I spend five minutes holding the button for cups of tea for myself and our kids. I've always used the Keurig hot water option to preheat thermos containers--this is out, too. It's a pain! 2. The controls for coffee don't maintain a chosen setting. Every time we make a cup of coffee, we have to choose the upgraded size and "strong". Our former models let us preset our preferences. For the average coffee maker, these are not problems, but the advantage of the Keurig is not just good coffee, it's the convenience--sadly, this misses the mark on that.
Pros: Stylish
Cons: Small Hot Water Output, No Preferred Settings, Inconvenient Hot Water

Disappointed first time buyer

Very disappointed in this machine. This is our first one! Coffee is not hot especially when using the carafe. We have a number of Keurig brand packs that will not work. My wife says to use our old machine (not Keurig) on the weekends when we want more cups of hot coffee. This machine clogged after a few cups and I had to call customer service to find out how to clear it (customer service was very helpful).
Pros: Easy to clean
Cons: Coffee Doesn't Stay Hot, Clogged After A Few Cups, Long Brew Time
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hi Steve let us help you out, included carafe is not insulated, we have introduced the Keurig 2.0 Thermal Carafe, which retains an optimum beverage temperature for at least an hour. This sturdy, stainless steel carafe is vacuum-insulated and double-walled, so your last cup can be as delicious as your first. Consumers can purchase the new Keurig 2.0 Thermal Carafe for $29.99 on Keurig.com.If you have K-Cup packs in your cupboard without the new pack technology (represented by a ring around the outside of the pack), your Keurig 2.0 brewer will not be able to brew your beverage. To ease with the transition, please contact our Customer Care for help.

Half-filled and Heartbroken

I purchased this brewer as an early Christmas present to myself. I have been an avid Keurig user for over 8years now and was very excited about the new features the 550 had. I gave away my K70 after buying this and have wished everyday since I could somehow ask for my old brewer back. My first issue is with the lack of a 12oz option unless you purchase the kmug packs. I prefer to brew my stronger coffees at 12oz to lessen the strength and get the most bang for my buck. Furthermore when I am wanting a cup of tea, I loved the 12oz option on my K70, which brings me to my second issue. The "hot water on demand" is very inconvinent to say the least! Having to stand there and hold down the button until only a mere 6oz is dispensed only to have to go through the whole process agian is teadous. With former brewers, you only needed to close the lid without a kcup inside and select the oz you wanted of hot water. Now with Keurig's "only our packs are usable" system, I have had to cut the bottom out of an apple cider pack to fool the brewer into allowing me to select an oz size and walk away. Third issue involves the lack of quality in the construction of this brewer. Within only a week, the brew button cracked. It is still usable, but now has a very large and ugly crack across the button. The needle is also of poor design. Having used and loved 3 different brewers over the last 8 years, I have NEVER had a needle clog as frequently as this one. We have always pushed our Kcups down to "pop" them from the bottom before closing the lid (this was a recommendation from Keurig customer service when I got my first brewer) but with this brewer, nothing seems to help. I find myself having to declog the needle every other day. Keep in mind I run a plain hot water cycle through my brewer at least 3 times a day, as my family loves hot tea brewed with a bag. 4th issue, although the carafe is a nice feature, the plastic cools down so quickly that you either have to drink luke warm coffee or heat it up in the micro. Now I am looking at spending another $15 just to have a carafe that will keep my coffee warm long enough to enjoy 2 cups. Along with the above mentioned issues, I am rather dissapointed in Keurig overall. I have had this model brewer now since December, and have not recieved any kind of notice that now a "declogging tool" exists. Nor have I been offered the opportunity to trade in my "rough draft" model for an updated version. There are thousands of reviews on the 2.0 systems highlighting issues; I am sure that Keurig has addressed these with the more recent production of brewers and as such it would be fantastic to be given a discounted upgrade. I don't plan on straying from the Keurig lifestyle but am now trying to hunt down another K70 to replace this 2.0. Unfortunately, the K70 is now retailing for over $300.00. I guess I am not the only one who sees this as Keurig's best brewer design.
Pros: Nightlight, Stylish, Fun Backgrounds
Cons: Clogs CONSTANTLY, Poor Quality Construction, Complicated Controls

I loved my Platinum series Keurig and when that stopped working I was excited to get the new model. I went with the 550 thinking it was going to be the rock star of Keurigs. When we first started using it it was loud and brewed extremely slow. My husband wanted to return it immediately. Considering I begged to get this model I wanted to prove it was valuable and keep it. Well I have been making excuses for this machine for months! Still loud and still brews really slow. The clock has never worked properly. I set the time and it is never right the next time you look at the machine. Recently it has started to leak all over the counter. We have to keep it empty and unplugged while it is not in use.
Pros: Stylish
Cons: Long Brew Time, HARD TO CLEAN, Loud

I am a huge Fan of Keurig, but purchasing this machine, has made me very unhappy, the coffee is never hot I cannot keep the cofee hot in a cup nor in the pot even after holding boiling water in the pot,I even put hot water in my coffee cup before brewig steps I should not have to make and yet I still do not get a hot cup of coffee.I do enjoy the look of the machine it is very attractive and the different bells and whistles that come along with it, but I would prefer none of it in return just to have a HOT cup of JOE, which is the point of all of this.
Pros: Stylish, Easy to use, Brews quickly, Large Pot
Cons: Coffee Doesn't Stay Hot, Temp Settings
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
