I bought this because there were a few recipes that asked me to use one. I have found it to also be helpful with making smoothies and mixed drinks. Luckily, we have a lot of mason-jar style cups. It's been very useful. It's a little awkward to handle and you need to use both hands, but otherwise it's very useful.

The ease and portability of this hand blender is quite amazing when I am making soups and need to use the blender IN the pot. Also when I'm traveling and still want my morning smoothies, it is easy to bring along. Note: it is a little heavy (its not a plastic item) but it is quality and durable.
