[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this and was very surprised it has been such a long time since I have a DVD player and this one is a upgrade from the one that I have had before and much better as well. I can shake the dust off of my dvd and start watching them once again.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My Sony Blu-ray Disk Player has more features than my old outdated one. This one allows me to play my dvd, cd, blu-ray, and stream movies from various services. It's has the Energy Star that means it uses less electricity. the picture quality is great. It's like Sony made the most updated Blu-ray Disk Player. It is like a smart tv. I have Netflix and YouTube plus more as advertised. It's the total package. I can also use screen mirroring for connection with my smart phone and/or tablet. I'm very happy with Sony. This is a game changer.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Got this so i could watch some blu rays my kids got me. Super easy to set up and get working. I was surprised that it hooked to the internet but I haven't really needed that part. Overall easy set up and use.

Easy to use but supply your own cord(s)!

Cons: you need your own cords to hook it up to the TV
The Sony BDP-S1700 Blu-Ray Disc/DVD Player/Wired Streaming Device is nice! This device is straightforward to use, and it works well. The first thing you need to make sure of is that you have a cord to connect it to the TV with because it doesn’t come with one. I used an HDMI cord, plugged it in to the TV and the device, and then plugged in the device. Once I added the batteries to the remote, it worked immediately. I had zero issues using this as a Blu-ray player. It played the disc flawlessly, and the movie looked incredible on the screen. The remote is simple to navigate and easy to use also.
As far as using this as a streaming device you need to have a wired connection and your own cord. The device was immediately recognized by my network once it was plugged in and connected via the ethernet cable. The on-screen setup walks you thought hooking it up. This device makes streaming super easy if you have a wired connection and I love the stability of it being hard wired.
All in all, this is a very nice Blu-Ray/DVD/Streaming device. It’s very easy to use, and it works well! I would recommend it!

This player is pretty much plug in and play

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wanted this to be simple to use and just play my Blu-rays and other DVDs and this is good for that. I was able to assemble it easily. It is very quiet as well. No grinding noise or disturbances.
I had to connect it to the internet to upgrade before use. You will need a cable to connect to the TV which is not included.
The downsides are that, it is too light weight and small. Also it does not have wireless WIFI access, must be wired with LAN cable.
Overall it serves the purpose for me!
