Just now set the Sony Blu-ray Disc Player BDP-S1700. Cable connections to TV and AV receiver were easy and I was able to play a DVD fairly quickly. Audio and video quality are great. But remote does not control TV Volume and wireless network connection doesn't work either. Sony needs to provide better online setup help. This is the 21st century, everyone expects wireless integration.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hi CarlosC, thank you for sharing your experience with your bdps1700. We appreciate all of your feedback as it helps improve the product. The BDP-S1700 is not capable of wireless network connection. Use a LAN cable to connect to the network.

Just bought this model. Can't get it to recognize that it should connect to WiFi. Network status is locked in "wired". Also, it does not remember where DVD program left off when stop button is accidentally hit instead of pause. Starts from the beginning of the disc. Very annoying. Stop and Pause buttons are next to each other on this tiny remote. Not a good design of either the remote or the operation. Not up to my expectations for a Sony product.

Hi Paulie2, we're sorry to hear that our product failed to meet your expectations. Unfortunately, this unit does not support wifi. The resume point may be cleared from memory depending on the disc when
- you open the disc tray. - you disconnect the USB device. - you play other content. - you turn off the player.
SONY provides a 1-year limited warranty for this unit. Should you need further assistance, please email us at socialsupport@am.sony.com with the following details: Name: Username: Model Number: Issue: Telephone Number: ~Earl
Rather unhappy with this model. I don't own any Blue Ray movies yet but expect to. My DVD collection does not play well on this BDP-S 1700. Skips, freezes, and crashes. Warranted 1 unit. This new one might play a whole episode or 2 before acting up. Haven't watched a movie yet. Have tried updating, settings, cleaning discs, etc, etc, etc....
