Why two different serial numbers? How about making it simple to identify it and why having one number on the box that is different from the one on the unit? This sounds terribly intentional. Without the same serial number though it is unadvisable to purchase extra warranty.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Could not ask for more out of a blu-ray player. Slim and sleek, fits nicely on the tv stand and is not a monstrous machine.
