Coffee maker great. Carafe sucks! Carafe is cheaply made and different than previous models. Leaks while pouring as lid doesn't secure tightly.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We’re glad to hear you’re enjoying the coffee maker itself. To help reduce leaks, make sure the lid is fully seated and pour the carafe at a slight angle. For additional guidance or assistance, please contact our Consumer Assistance Center at 1-800-726-0190.

Someday, a fluid dynamics engineer will design a glass carafe for Cuisinart that does not spill when pouring. Additionally, the interrupt spring was too stiff and if you don’t force the carafe all the way under, there will be a mess to clean up. Easy to think it’s all the way under when it is not. Other than these issues, makes good hot coffee.

This machine makes the coffee fine and the controls are mostly intuitive. Its one big draw back is in pouring the coffee from the pot to the cup almost always spillage resulting in puddles of coffee dripping on the kitchen counter, breakfast bar or table. This is my third Cuisinart and all three have had this terrible trait. Unless the pot is held "just so" it's gonna happen, sometimes just a little some time a good size amount. One would have hoped by now that the company would have found a solution to this irritation. Each unit has lasted from 12 to 15 years so that’s quite awhile for this problem not to have been resolved. This is why no 5 stars.
