I have two probes (duo). #1 worked very well. #2 worked for 2 hours and then would no longer connect to the bamboo base station sitting next to it. it left me in a very bad state with Christmas dinner half cooked. I had to go back to the old reliable methods of cooking and accept that technology is no substitute.

Thank you for your review. When the probe disconnected, we would go through the repairing process. Dock all 4 probes. Boot up the product in either mode. Press the settings button (the gear icon on MEATER Block, and the list icon on MEATER Pro XL). Scroll down and select "Probe Pairing". It could be that the probe needs to be cleaned. If a film of grease coats the sensor, it will prevent it from charging and connecting. We recommend using baking soda and water on a scouring pad and after the probe is clean to charge the MEATER Duo for 15 minutes then try to connect. Here is a support link that talks about connecting and a video that goes over cleaning the probes. If you still need help, please contact us by phone or chat and one of our friendly and knowledgeable agents will be happy to help.

With elegant design, robust construction, and thoughtful apps, the Meater is a welcome tool in the kitchen.
I really wish it were easier to find out what the LED illumination codes meant

Great new temperature and cleanability specifications. It doesn't seem to hold a charge long, so if I don't plan ahead to charge before use, it doesn't connect. It also has trouble connecting for firmware updates.

While I am beyond thrilled with my new Meater Pro Duo, I do have 2 rather large "issues" with it. But 1st the good, the app interface is pretty awesome and I love the MasterClass offerings on there. Super cool. Having the ambient probe is neat too and the graph is perfect for tracking your cook. But now the bad...
1) Max temp of the internal probe is 221 degrees. I feel that is incredibly low because I can only use it on a rather thick cut of meat to ensure that the probes are completely covered out of fear that leaving a little bit of the probe exposed to an oven at 350 degrees will break the device.
2) But my bigger issue is that the probes are "on" at all times. Meaning, when I place the probe into the base station, the probes are still running and using up battery life. The solution is either a) plan well in advance and keep in mind that I need to charge the whole base station with the probes inserted for at least 2 hours prior to my cook or b) keep the base station connected to the wall 24/7. Already twice it has gotten me where I am ready to start my cook and I pull the device out of my drawer, remove a probe and nothing. probe batteries are completely drained even though I had charged everything to 100% before putting it all away. In my opinion, that's a huge design flaw. If at 6pm I decide I want to throw the pork loin in the oven to have ready for dinner in an hour, well, now we can't eat until 9pm because I needed 2 hours to charge everything. The alternative is now I have the base station sitting on my kitchen counter as a permanent fixture taking up an outlet. Neither scenario is ideal.

I very happy with the Meater Pro Duo. working with the phone app is easy and fun. It works as advertised.
My first cook was Christmas dinner. An expensive Rib-eye bone in roast for 12. With the probe I nailed the wanted doneness. The app also let me know when to rest the roast and when it was done resting ready to carve. All of my familyand friends were very impressed.
Only disappointment is as follows.
When using both probes I can't use one on my grill and one in my oven. I've tried moving the Meater block splitting the distance between each oven and it just won't read both. The distance between is about 14 feet each way.

Hi, and thanks for sharing your gift experience with the MEATER Pro Duo. Although the app will walk your friend through the setup for his new probes, he can find step-by-step directions at support.meater.com/faqs/duo-setup, or reach out to MEATER Support through the contact information at support.meater.com/contact-us with any questions that he has on his new MEATER. And also let him know to watch for upcoming Pro Duo articles from our Support Wizard (support.meater.com/helper) and FAQs section (support.meater.com/faqs), which will be available soon on the MEATER website.
