Concerned about sketchy probe connections
on December 23, 2024

I am concerned that after fully setting up the Duo sometimes when I pull the probes out of the cradle they don’t connect to the base. I put them back in and without changing anything they connect but then they won’t connect at a later time.
Also, when the probes are fully charged the left LED blinks red constantly. I called Support and they said that’s the way it’s designed but there’s nothing about that in the very incomplete online only owners manual. A blinking red light normally indicates a problem. How about a solid green light?

Thank you for your review of your MEATER Pro Duo. Reasons for it to blink red is that it isn't charged or connected. The most common reason for probes not connecting is they have a build-up of residue on the probe and coating the sensor, which can prevent them from charging and connecting. Check out this MEATER support link that explains why probes stop connecting and this video that covers cleaning the probes. If you still have issues, contact us and one of our agents will be happy to help you.

Connect Issues

I bought two (2) Meater Pros ( one for me and one for my brother n law) over Thanksgiving for my family’s Turkey. There were previous noted connection issues/reviews but thought I would try myself. Still big connection issues with both Meater, Box & Phone being directly on top on oven. Bought this Meater Duo hoping connection issues would be improved but sadly not. My phone, and box were both beside my grill and still connecting issues. Will not buy again and would not recommend.

Hi, and thank for reviewing the MEATER Pro Duo. Unlike what you may have been used to with your MEATER Pro, the proximity of the Pro Duo charger to your phone does not have an effect on the connection. Whereas the MEATER Pro will pair directly with your phone via Bluetooth, the Pro Duo uses your home WiFi signal to send the cook data to the app. In both cases, keeping the charger near the probes will benefit the connection between them, but once your Pro Duo is set up, you should be able to go anywhere in (and around) your house as long as both the charger and your phone can get an adequate signal from the router. Whenever you have questions or concerns with your MEATER products, please consider visiting us at https://support.meater.com/contact-us/. There you will find contact information for our Customer Service Team, which can be reached either by phone, or by chat.

This is the second time that I’ve bought meters. They’ve epically failed me. I don’t wanna hear that it has anything with my Wi-Fi because I have everything set up properly in my house except for these foolish devices

Hello, and thanks for your feedback on the MEATER Pro Duo. Depending on where the break in the connection is, it may not actually be related to WiFi at all. Usually, when there is a disconnect, it is more common for the interference to be between the charger and the probes, which are paired to each other via Bluetooth. To ensure the best connection, please keep the charger as close to the probes as possible, and also avoid covering the probes completely with aluminum foil or inside of a pot. For additional assistance with your MEATER Pro Duo, visit support.meater.com/contact-us/ to talk to one of our agents, who can help you either by chat, or by phone.

Worked very well. Initially , I had trouble with the connection. But, when I actually read the directions I realized the holder box is a “WiFi repeater” and needs to be near the probe . When I used the product correctly, it worked “great”. Steaks and turkey came out perfect . Love the product

It's great, but it does not let you know when the hub is charged. It keeps flashing red when charging, even after being hooked up overnight.

Thank you for your review. The MEATER Pro Duo will be 50% charged after just 15 minutes. When it needs to be charged, no LED light will be on. If it is plugged in and charging, The left LED light will slowly blink red. If you have any questions, please contact us by phone or chat and one of our friendly and knowledgeable agents will be happy to help.

I have two probes (duo). #1 worked very well. #2 worked for 2 hours and then would no longer connect to the bamboo base station sitting next to it. it left me in a very bad state with Christmas dinner half cooked. I had to go back to the old reliable methods of cooking and accept that technology is no substitute.

Thank you for your review. When the probe disconnected, we would go through the repairing process. Dock all 4 probes. Boot up the product in either mode. Press the settings button (the gear icon on MEATER Block, and the list icon on MEATER Pro XL). Scroll down and select "Probe Pairing". It could be that the probe needs to be cleaned. If a film of grease coats the sensor, it will prevent it from charging and connecting. We recommend using baking soda and water on a scouring pad and after the probe is clean to charge the MEATER Duo for 15 minutes then try to connect. Here is a support link that talks about connecting and a video that goes over cleaning the probes. If you still need help, please contact us by phone or chat and one of our friendly and knowledgeable agents will be happy to help.

With elegant design, robust construction, and thoughtful apps, the Meater is a welcome tool in the kitchen.
I really wish it were easier to find out what the LED illumination codes meant
