Pretty big ambient temp differences between the two probes on the same grill. Could be the grill, maybe. And the probes lose contact with the base when they’re in the oven making them pretty useless for anything but the grill. They’re a nice addition to outdoor cooking but less capable and issue free than I was hoping

Thank you for sharing your experience. Noticing ambient temperature differences between two probes on the same grill can sometimes be influenced by uneven heat distribution inside the grill itself, particularly with factors like hot spots or varying airflow. However, it’s also important to ensure the probes are fully charged and placed correctly to maintain consistent contact and signal strength, especially when using them in enclosed spaces like ovens, where signal loss is more likely due to interference from the metal housing.
We recommend checking the placement and orientation of the MEATER Charger to help boost connectivity and keep it as close as possible to the probes during use. The concept is great. However, the Bluetooth connection is very tenuous. There are times when the Meater is 2 feet from the phone and the two have difficulty connecting. Even more difficult when cooking in the Big Green Egg, which sometimes totally prevents connection and renders the Meater useless. When it works, I love it, but that’s a 50/50 proposition. At best.

Hello there, and thank you for your feedback. It’s great to hear that you appreciate the concept and enjoy using the MEATER when it works as expected. Bluetooth signal performance can be impacted by grill materials like ceramic (as in the Big Green Egg), which tend to block wireless signals more than other surfaces. Even at close range, this can affect how the device connects to your phone.
We’d be glad to help you optimize your setup or explore ways to extend connectivity using MEATER Link or WiFi options. Please contact us at support.meater.com, where our team is available by chat or phone to assist you directly.
I got the Pro Duo as a Father’s Day present (after research and meeting my kids know what I wanted 😂) I couldn’t be happier. I use them with my Traeger Pro780 to monitor the ambient along with the internal meat temp. I was able to get the first complete cook I was looking for with the additional info I got from the MEATER probes. Thank you for saving me!
I’m concerned with connection issues. Seems to be really inconsistent with connectivity.

We appreciate you sharing this. Consistent connectivity is essential for a smooth experience, and we understand how surprising it can be when the signal feels unreliable. Connection stability can be influenced by factors like grill placement, distance from your device, and WiFi or Bluetooth interference. Placing the grill closer to your router, avoiding large metal or concrete barriers, and ensuring your device’s firmware and app are up to date can often improve performance. If the connection still feels inconsistent, feel free to contact us at 1-800-TRAEGER for chat and phone assistance; we’d be happy to help troubleshoot further.
