I placed both probes in the same pork roast and the temperature readings were 30° different different One was in one side of the roast, and the other was in the other at the same height, same distance and a good distance from each other I do like the USB charging feature and have they both show up on the app at the top

Thank you for sharing your experience with the MEATER probes. It’s great to hear you’re enjoying the USB charging feature and the way both probes are displayed in the app.
Regarding the temperature difference, a 30° variation within the same cut can sometimes happen, depending on how heat is distributed in the cooking environment. Even if both probes are at the same depth, slight differences in fat content, bone placement, or proximity to the heat source can create uneven cooking zones. That said, this kind of variance is worth checking, especially if it persists across multiple cooks.
We’d be happy to help you confirm both probes are calibrated and functioning as expected. Please reach out to us at support.meater.com, where our team is available by chat or phone to assist you directly.
I bought this for my husband for Father’s Day. He’s had a smoker for a few years but sometimes struggled to get the results he wanted from the meat he smoked. The meat probes were very easy to setup and use. Everything he has made since has come out phenomenal. He especially likes the step by step instructions in the app, including pictures. He’s going to try brisket this weekend; I can’t wait.
This was my first cook with the Pro Duo. One thing I discovered is if the ambient sensor is too close to the surface of the meat, it will read a little bit low due to cooling from the meat itself. Not good, not bad, just is. This is something I've never noticed before.
As a whole, is does function well and easy to use. I do recommend it.
Product defective would not pair. Support was.. I can't even say bad because it was more nonexistent.

Thank you for sharing your experience. When a product doesn’t pair as expected, it affects the ability to use it as intended, which is understandably surprising. Reliable support is important, and we want to ensure you receive the assistance you need to get your MEATER working properly.

Pretty big ambient temp differences between the two probes on the same grill. Could be the grill, maybe. And the probes lose contact with the base when they’re in the oven making them pretty useless for anything but the grill. They’re a nice addition to outdoor cooking but less capable and issue free than I was hoping
Response from MeaterBy Traeger Grills, Traeger, July 19, 2025
Thank you for sharing your experience. Noticing ambient temperature differences between two probes on the same grill can sometimes be influenced by uneven heat distribution inside the grill itself, particularly with factors like hot spots or varying airflow. However, it’s also important to ensure the probes are fully charged and placed correctly to maintain consistent contact and signal strength, especially when using them in enclosed spaces like ovens, where signal loss is more likely due to interference from the metal housing.
We recommend checking the placement and orientation of the MEATER Charger to help boost connectivity and keep it as close as possible to the probes during use. The concept is great. However, the Bluetooth connection is very tenuous. There are times when the Meater is 2 feet from the phone and the two have difficulty connecting. Even more difficult when cooking in the Big Green Egg, which sometimes totally prevents connection and renders the Meater useless. When it works, I love it, but that’s a 50/50 proposition. At best.

Hello there, and thank you for your feedback. It’s great to hear that you appreciate the concept and enjoy using the MEATER when it works as expected. Bluetooth signal performance can be impacted by grill materials like ceramic (as in the Big Green Egg), which tend to block wireless signals more than other surfaces. Even at close range, this can affect how the device connects to your phone.
We’d be glad to help you optimize your setup or explore ways to extend connectivity using MEATER Link or WiFi options. Please contact us at support.meater.com, where our team is available by chat or phone to assist you directly.
