“Old school” w modernization!

I had a front loader machine…loved it until I bought a GE top loader! Uses less water & not a tangled mess!
I would recommend this to a friend!

The washer does an OK job of washing. It is very noisy, The bleach spout has no funnel around the area so some goes in and the rest dribbles down the side of the drum. The reason getting this was the other washer spun off balance, this one does the same so I have to babysit this one as well. The agitator doesn't do much, I know our G E from the 70s really did a good job. Over all, It's a nice set, but nothing you buy today is perfect, so don't expect it.

I've always used GE products, but the old one broke numerous years ago, we looked into a Whirlpool Cabrio. What a huge mistake. Agitator is a must for us, never will we go back to a Whirlpool. This washer is very quiet, does its job, basket is deep and roomy. You can never go wrong with GE. Strong recommendation. Judge for yourself...

It’s ok. It’s easy to use, large and has good options or settings. However it’s very loud! It sounds old and worn down and we haven’t had it for more than a month! If I could exchange it I would have!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Thank you for taking the time to provide a review on your GE Appliances top-load washer, model GTW585BSVWS. We are truly sorry to hear that the is a rust-like substance on the drum, and the bleach dispenser splatters bleach on your clothes. We're happy to provide some guidance.
Surface rust on the side walls of stainless steel wash tub baskets may be caused by particulates in the water. This type of surface rust can be cleaned off and, in some cases, prevented by following the cleaning instructions below:
To minimize the possibility of electric shock, unplug this appliance from the power supply before attempting any maintenance or cleaning.
- Apply and buff oxalic acid based cleaner into basket surface using a clean microfiber towel. (Bar Keepers Friend, available in most stores).
- Wipe away cleaner residue on basket. (Blue shop paper towels work well)
- Wiping water spots off after each cycle with a wet cloth once the cleaning process above has been completed can help with prevention.
- If surface rust is heavy, a filtration system may be needed to eliminate particulates in the water.
Please note: Liquid fabric softener residue can also look like rust. With heavy fabric softener use, a residue can look like a rust pattern on the stainless steel wash tub basket. If you use too much fabric softener, it can be slung above the water line and will not be rinsed off. This is actually not rusting of the basket and can easily be cleaned with Bar Keepers Friend since it is just the fabric softener residue.

Weight washing machine with the agitator

Was not sure about this washer at first but it has exceeded my expectations does a very good job no problems whatsoever have been using it everyday I would recommend this GE washing machine to anybody looking for a new washing machine
