Water Level Control feature is terrible

I hate the water level control. If you set the water level to automatic, your clothes stick up out of the water. You are supposed to be able to bypass the automatic water level and select a level, i.e. low, high, max. This feature isn't much better. You can only the tank to fill to about 3/4 full by selecting "max" and "deep fill". The result is that you can't put much clothes in the washer.

This washer is a high-efficiency washing machine with a system that requires less water while providing effective cleaning action. However, this model does offer the Deep Fill feature which allows you to add additional water to the cycle. The Deep Fill feature is recommended for special case loads only, not for typical use. Board went out, cost about as much to replace it than buying a new one. What happened to quality? How does something this new break?

Agitation is extremely loud, water level has to be over ridden to get sufficient water for washing, clothes do not get clean and a film is left on clothes after wash cycle. Extremely dissatisfied with performance and want to return for refund.

The Department of Energy (DOE) sets standards for washer water usage. Over the years, the amount of allowable water usage has been reduced. With washers using less water and energy, you will no longer see a wash basket full of water. The Deep Fill option is available should you need additional water and is explained on page 10 of the manual.
Please check and be sure you are using the recommended amount of HE (high-efficiency) detergent in your new washer. HE detergents are specifically formulated to perform well in newer model washers. Finally, if you are using a liquid fabric softener, you must select the Deep Rinse or Extra Rinse option.
If you feel there is an issue with your washer, we encourage you to contact our GE Appliances service team - Bodewell at 1-833-426-3393 to schedule an appointment to have your washer evaluated and repaired as needed.

Traditional PLEASE!!

I absolutely hate these technical washers!! Computers know nothing about washing clothes! They hardly agitate at all, they lock you out ( absolutely no purpose for that stupid feature) I have always loved GE appliances, but they have bombed!! Throw out the computer, just give us a choice to purchase the original traditional appliances ! These things are JUNK!

Hello- We are very sorry to hear you are unhappy with your washer. We can understand how upsetting it is when a new appliance doesn't meet your expectations. We will be sure to share your feedback with our engineering and design teams. In regards to the lock, starting in the year 2015, top-load washers feature a lid lock that engages when the washer is either load-sensing before and during the water fill or when it is spinning above 50 RPM. You cannot set the washer to lock the lid for the entire wash cycle.
Note: To unlock the lid:
Pausing the machine will allow you to open the lid.
During the spin cycle, pausing the washer does unlock the lid but for safety reasons you must wait until the basket has completely coasted down to a stop before the lid unlocks. Depending upon the speed at which the washer is spinning when it is paused (and depending on the size of the load being washed), it can take as much as 3 minutes to coast to a stop and then unlock.
We want you to be happy with your purchase and would recommend taking advantage of your warranty by calling GE Consumer Service to make sure it is working as designed. They can be reached by calling 1-800-432-2737. Thank you! Joyce@GEA

Sleek, efficient, reasonably priced

We wanted a modern look, an efficient and a reasonably heavy duty laundering machine with an affordable price. We got all of this with the GE appliance we purchased. It fits perfectly in the space we have in our condo.

So far I love this washer! I was concerned about some of the bad reviews that mention its too loud or that it doesn’t have enough water so let me address them. The washer is kinda of loud, but I found that if I close my laundry door, I cannot hear it at all. My laundry is by the garage and next to the living room. If your laundry is upstairs and you can usually hear kids running around then you might still hear the washer. Again, for me it wasn’t a big deal because I can’t hear it once I close the laundry door. Next, some mention that it doesn’t have enough water. So far I have washed everything in the settings of “bulky” and pressed the “deep water” setting button for 3 seconds to activate it and it worked great. Had plenty of water for the amount of clothes I had. All of my loads are one laundry basket. I don’t place more than that on the washer. With that said, if you fill the washer basket all the way to the top with clothes, you will NOT have enough water. Although the basket is big, once its filled with water there is still about 6 inches left from the top. What I love about this washer is that the lid only locks during the sensing and spin cycle, which means that if I find extra dirty clothes lying around during the cycle, I can still open the door and throw them in. I could not do that with my older washer. I also love the quick wash setting which is only about 24 minutes long. All other settings run around 50-68 minutes. Hope this review helps!

Great so far

I've had both washer and dryer for about a month and so far my better half loves it. She likes the size of it and that it handles big loads. The controls are easy to understand and she can get the water level to the depth she wants. The machine also makes it easy with remembering what you like. Best of all it cleans clothes great and doesn't make a lot of noise. Also doesn't move all over the place.
I would recommend this to a friend!
