Disappointing washer
on February 11, 2025
Posted by: DissedCust
First, unless you override the default rinse options, it doesn't rinse the soap out. I use deep rinse and extra rinse with every load. Usually use deep fill as well. Complicated digital controls don't provide the flexibility of previous analog controls. As others have noted, the drum takes forever to spin down. Adds 20 plus minutes to my washes at least.

We know the importance of an appliance operating as expected, and we will be sure to pass these comments and suggestions along to our product design team for review. We do advise scheduling service with one of our certified technicians to get this drain and spin issue properly addressed, as spinning for 20 minutes can be abnormal. You can schedule an appointment with a GE Appliances technician by calling 1-800-432-2737 or schedule online at https://www.geappliances.com/ge/service-and-support/service.htm If any additional assistance is needed, we're always here to help.

Great machine

Love my new washer. Read reviews and so far I have no problems . First thing I washed was my bed sheets and comforter on bulky mode. No problems. I like all the features it come with. I tried a couple to see what works best for my family of 4. Some reviews I read had problems with water levels, spin cycle not enough, balancing or noisy. I don’t agree with them. I keep water level on auto, max spin, and don’t think it’s any noisier than old machine. I even threw in soaked towels from my basement seeping and had zero balancing problems.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Terrible machine!! Stay away!!!

Terrible terrible washing machine. Trying to wash clothes with hardly any water!!!! Even with deep fill it only goes to the top of the clothes!! How do you get the drum to actually fill up????? The clothes don’t even get tossed around, they are in the same spot when you take them out as when you put them in, so how are they getting washed??? And what is with the soap dispenser holding water at the end of the cycle?? And the repairmen say this is normal, you let all the gunk build up from it then take it out to wash!!?? Like what??? So your clothes are getting covered in that gunk. Like who designed these ‘energy’ saving machines must never have done laundry before!!!! Bring back the old machines that have small, medium, large loads and hot, warm or cold water!!!!!!!!! They last longer than these machines filled with useless technology!!!!

We are extremely sorry to hear of your experience with this washer, and we are more than happy to help. This washer has a water level control feature which allows you to use as little or as much water as you want during washing. We have provided a video tutorial on how to use this feature here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVLer4QXwGY&t=21s
It is normal for the detergent dispenser to have remaining water once the wash cycle has complete, as the water is helping flush the detergent into the tub. Your feedback is extremely important to us. We will pass these comments along to our product team to review.

After 3 days it’s great!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Purchased this and the matching dryer after a basement flood and made my old machines yuck. Some things about it seem chinsey (cheap and flimsy) but it hasn’t unbalanced once, fills with water while the top is open and I can pick my water level. Also has the important extra rinse feature my son with eczema, seems to benefit with. No complaints so far and worth it at the price point.
I would recommend this to a friend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It waits so you have time to adjust or add cloths. Works like a race horse with a real agitator. Bulky...they got you covered. I love the water level button you pick what you need.

Traditional PLEASE!!

I absolutely hate these technical washers!! Computers know nothing about washing clothes! They hardly agitate at all, they lock you out ( absolutely no purpose for that stupid feature) I have always loved GE appliances, but they have bombed!! Throw out the computer, just give us a choice to purchase the original traditional appliances ! These things are JUNK!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello- We are very sorry to hear you are unhappy with your washer. We can understand how upsetting it is when a new appliance doesn't meet your expectations. We will be sure to share your feedback with our engineering and design teams. In regards to the lock, starting in the year 2015, top-load washers feature a lid lock that engages when the washer is either load-sensing before and during the water fill or when it is spinning above 50 RPM. You cannot set the washer to lock the lid for the entire wash cycle.
Note: To unlock the lid:
Pausing the machine will allow you to open the lid.
During the spin cycle, pausing the washer does unlock the lid but for safety reasons you must wait until the basket has completely coasted down to a stop before the lid unlocks. Depending upon the speed at which the washer is spinning when it is paused (and depending on the size of the load being washed), it can take as much as 3 minutes to coast to a stop and then unlock.
We want you to be happy with your purchase and would recommend taking advantage of your warranty by calling GE Consumer Service to make sure it is working as designed. They can be reached by calling 1-800-432-2737. Thank you! Joyce@GEA

We wanted a modern look, an efficient and a reasonably heavy duty laundering machine with an affordable price. We got all of this with the GE appliance we purchased. It fits perfectly in the space we have in our condo.
I would recommend this to a friend!
