Brand new broken dryer
on April 29, 2025
Posted by: TAJR
I just bought this dryer April 10, 2025. It’s already broken down. It does not stop running. It would not shut off. I’m very unhappy about this supposedly brand new GE dryer. I wish I could take it back and get a different one. Now I have to have a repair man come and fix it. I’m disgusted.

Door is hard to close and would be better if the door was a pull down.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Door reversal
on May 2, 2025
Posted by: Appliancelegend27
I am an appliance delivery and installer. Normally it only takes me about 15-30 minutes to do a door reversal. This door reversal took me over an hour. It seems simple just taking the screws off and rotating the back of the door 180 degrees and switching the hinges over to the other side. All of that was easy, the hard part was trying to line up all 3 pieces (back panel, front panel and hinges) so that I can screw them all together. I tried every which way, there was no way to screw all 3 back together the same way I unscrewed them. Instructions did not help with that part either, it basically said “yeah just switch the hinges over to the other side and screw it together” but it doesn’t show the actual technique/step to hold all 3 pieces (back panel, front panel and hinges) together to be able to screw them. I have done a lot of door reversals on many different brands and models and this one was by far the hardest. GE should have video tutorials on all their models for all services, with easy step by step solutions.

We will be passing your comments about the hinge reversal process over to our product team to review. This way we can work towards more precise methods and improve on our models going forward. Thanks again for sharing this.

Piece of junk

Does not dry, has never dried, some times loads can take 6 hrs to dry, and I have had to make my loads much smaller to accommodate this issue so I still don't know what it's problem is. My husband has taken it out and tried to fix the connection with no help. I will open it up when it's been drying for an hour and half and it won't even be warm. Worst purchase of my life. STEER CLEAR OF THIS!!!

We know the importance of having a new appliance that is easy to operate. However, we are confident that once you get comfortable with the controls you will enjoy this dryer for many years to come!

Terrible Quality

We never leave reviews but this one was worth the time. Not even two weeks old and it is shorted to ground internally, waiting on a repairman. The matching washer has had a burning smell, so our confidence is low in it as well. Should’ve kept the 18 year old Maytag Bravos. If you buy these, good luck!

We're sorry to hear that your new dryer isn't operating as expected. We're glad that a service appointment has been scheduled and we're confident the issue will be resolved.
As far as the washer, a burning smell coming from the unit could be the inlet hoses. Sometimes new inlet hoses put off a strong rubber odor that can be mistaken for a burning smell. To tell if the odor is from the inlet hoses:
1.) Start the washer so it fills with hot water. 2.) Stop the washer before it starts to agitate.
If you can smell the burning rubber from only the fill cycle (no motor or pump running) before it even starts to agitate, the problem is just the hoses. This is normal and will start to fade over time.
