Believe the hype.

Very happy with this brewer! True to form it really does make pour over coffee just like I would by hand, but I can now make more than one cup at a time. And the program is very easy to use. The coffee is delicious.

Intuitive Maker, Delicious Coffee
on January 29, 2025

Aiden coffee maker is intuitive, easy to use and brews delicious coffee each time. As a time-starved parent / professional, I found it difficult to believe that I could break away from my single serve coffee maker. With a little bit of prep the night before, brewing rich, delicious coffee with Aiden has been enjoyable.

So close to perfection

I am really enjoying this coffee maker. I love being able to experiment with bloom, pulses, and temps. I've been able to dial in some local favorite roasts as well as I'm enjoying the Fellow Drops and recommendations. The best feature is the consistency I get from it which allows me to better understand my tasting results and what I can change for future pours. The overall quality of the machine is top notch as well.
The misses are few for me but they do keep this from being 5 stars in my book. First, I'm not a fan of the circular display. It's great on the Stagg Kettle, but for a device like this, there is no reason why a rectangular display can't be used - especially considering the UI is made for a rectangular interaction. Additionally, while I like the minimalism with the single turn wheel button, I do get inconsistent notches every now and then. For instance, I'll have 1.5 cups selected and want to scroll up to 4 but it get's stuck on 3.5. One more slight turn for the next notch and it skips 4 cups and goes straight to 4.5. My third improvement piece deals with the pot itself. For one, it does not keep brews hot for very long and for larger batches, you'll want to give it a good stir after brewing so the stronger first cups out of the system aren't sitting on the bottom. I ended up buying the French Press spoon so I could give it a quick stir and it's a simple fix (any spoon will do but in a moment of weakness, I liked the look of the one Fellow offers).
Overall, if you want consistent pot after pot after pot, and love to personalize your cup, I highly recommend the Aiden. Just understand it isn't perfect, but then again neither am I (even after I've had my coffee for the day).

Great coffee! Love the looks. Thermos could hold heat better but that is my only complaint

Great machine, software needs to catch up
on September 16, 2024

Great product but they were too late in the software. Upon release, the app is barely functional, Not doing anything other than updating the firmware, but at the same time they didn’t have any guide online mentioning that it wasn’t an issue. However, the machine itself is solid, and if the app catches up to the promised features will be great. In particular they need to solve for grind size. For many people value proposition is not in the flexibility, but in the built-in recipes, so you don’t have to waste the first half bag iterating to get the brew just right. In order to fulfill that vision, in the settings they should ask me what kind of Fellow grinder I have and once I put in the recipe and quantity, they should give me the suggested drawing size. Otherwise, they’re just taking volume and dividing by 16

(Mostly) Great

Have been using it for roughly 1 week. Coffee is pretty good once you get the proper grind size figured out (I'm using an Ode gen 2). The unique brew profiles for the coffee that came with the Aiden make a distinct difference vs just using the quick brew feature. The single serve cone basket makes a difference vs simply making a small amount in the larger batch filter basket. My baseline for brew quality was my old Moccamaster and I'm fairly pleased with what the Aiden is giving me. My only real concern is the double wall carafe doesn't keep coffee as warm for as long as I was expecting. I tested the temp of the brewed coffee with a digital temp probe and got the following results: Using Quick Brew the Aiden indicated a brew temp of 96c (205f). Immediately after brewing the temp of the coffee inside the carafe measured 184f. After 30 minutes it was 156f, and after exactly 1 hour it was down to 124f, a temp low enough to prompt some in my household to heat it up in the microwave. I've begun transferring some of the leftover brewed coffee into a Carter Move mug and it makes a huge difference as it stays much warmer. But I shouldn't have to do that. And Fellow's assertion the the carafe will keep your coffee warm "for hours" is simply not my experience. But aside from that I'm fairly happy with the purchase and looking forward to using the app to access brew profiles whenever the get it working.

The start of something great
on September 19, 2024

I’ve doing pourovers with near daily frequency for a couple years now and after only a week of using Aiden, I had moved my kettle to a drawer from its home on my kitchen countertop.
The most important thing for Aiden to do is make good coffee. On this matter, I have next to no notes. Future generations could improve in potentially finding a way to mechanically agitate the basket or adding a scale to the basket compartment, but both aren’t very necessary and would likely add cost and complexity.
As far as other quality of life complaints or areas for improvement, there are admittedly several…
The water tank could be enlarged. It currently holds 1.5L, but with the largest batch brew being 1.5L, even an extra 500mL would add some breathing room and cut on refill time. The handle to remove the water tank is convenient but it cuts into the tank far too much, making it just a little more intentional to pour water in at the left or right of the handle to avoid splashing. Also, to remove the water tank you have to pull up and left around the screen to pull forward. This is a minor inconvenience as Aiden has my fridge to the left, making me have to rotate Aiden to easily grab the tank and return it without having to pull it forward through the gap between it and the fridge.
Why is there no drip tray? Aiden features a drip finish timer but there’s still going to be a few drips well after and removing the carafe to decant and having to wipe down the solid tray daily is annoying. I imagine it has something to do with verifying the batch carafe is under the basket to begin batch brews. A water sensor on the bottom/in a drip tray would be a welcomed expense as scheduling morning brews that might unrestrictedly flow across my counter is a fear of mine and bound to happen.
Finally for complaints, the screen and software. As of right now, the app is very barebones. I knew to expect it and honestly doesn’t bother me much other than missing the convenience of quickly making and adding profiles. My larger complaint is that while a round screen is quirky, it’s far too slow and too small. I’m not sure if I think it should be a rectangular screen, but it doesn’t help with screen area and I’m not sure what would be loss in terms of design or functionality. But the latency and what appears to be to be a slow refresh rate display. But maybe the processor is struggling to keep up with rendering the menus.
Those are my complaints, and while wordy, in no way are any of them a deal breaker. This is still a five star product and Nick and Fellow product team should be extremely proud of this product. Especially at this price point.
If you can afford this and debating purchasing, stop. It’s for you. Who knows when Gen 2 will come, but I hope it addresses my thoughts. I wouldn’t upgrade just for them, but it would be a near perfect coffee maker.

The Smartest Coffee Maker on the Market
on September 19, 2024

I've been using the Aiden for about a week now and it has exceeded my expectations. What could be a complicated experience with so many settings combinations and permutations has really been dumbed down by the presets for Light, Medium, and Dark roasts. And the precise settings for specific coffees are on-point and cafe-quality. I LOVE that Aiden uses the right amount of water regardless of how full the reservoir is. The brew time is about 25% longer than a standard coffee maker, but is worth it.
My wish list for future development: 1. Integrated grind size recommendation for Light/Medium/Dark or specific beans if using a Fellow grinder. Right now I'm just using "5". 2. Make it so the lid won't close unless the green/blue water shower setting matches the basket insert. 3. Make it so the display doesn't automatically turn back on each time the carafe or another part is removed.
