Great Cups When It Works

Generally I'm a huge fan of Fellow Products (or was), but this is effectively an alpha level tech product. Upon initial release, I had a very positive experience. However, as time continues on, it's clear the backend development process is laughable as the product is actively getting worse.
Between sync issues (Aiden -> App works, but App -> Aiden is broken and has been for awhile along with Fellow Drops not syncing whatsoever on it) and now batch brews do not use the proper amount of water that effectively render a 1:10 ratio (at least using a built-in default batch profiles as well as instant brew). However, custom profiles (at least with more than one pulse) do use the correct amount of water (suggesting it's a software or math problem in my opinion), the whatever-is-going-on-behind-the-scenes at Fellow is clearly a problem.
The fact Fellow Drops don't sync undermines an aspect of the ecosystem they'd want you in (which I thankfully do not subscribe to so am not impacted by this issue and I would definitely not subscribe given it).
When it worked correctly, it produced amazing cups. If you're a patient, tech enthusiast, then I think it may still be worthwhile to get for that aspect of it. If you're looking for something reliable and consistent, then this is definitely NOT the product for you. I have to micromanage all of its quirks far more than any effort I need to put into creating delicious pour overs. Which, if you're a tech enthusiast, may not be a big ordeal. But for the price point, I'd expect something better as you're not even at a beta level to be testing.
Ultimately, even with a Fellow-d out brew bar, with a majority of products I'm happy with despite general QA issues (which Fellow has been good at replacing if you are fine with send-in-return cycles), this will likely be the end of the road for me as their products die when warranty no longer covers them. The stuff I have that works consistently has been great, so hopefully that's a ways away, but with this release, it's clear they are broken behind the scenes and that's a harder problem to fix.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great coffee maker but

It makes a good coffee and I'm glad I bought it. I'm mildly concerned about all the plastic, that it brews in plastic, and it doesn't feel like particularly high quality plastic (could be wrong on this point). That's the only reason I'm giving this 4 out 5.

Great Coffee, thermal carafe needs redesigned

It makes Great Coffee, but the carafe doesn't keep the coffee hot long enough to enjoy a second or third serving.

Amazing brewer… water reservoir feedback!

I bought the Aiden early November and have been able to use it now for almost a month. My wife and I enjoy how it’s intuitive and consistent. Literally our only complaint — only 1. Is that we spend all the time dosing out beans, ensuring clean water, and baskets are level etc, but sometimes we forget to check the water reservoir. There is no safe guard based on what batch your brewing that Aiden will tell you “NEED MORE WATER”… I understand this could be based on there are so many variables of brews. But it will just start brewing even if there isn’t enough water and ruin a brew if you walk away and come back and forget to check
Definitely is a simple fix if weight sensor or something. Otherwise! Amazing product.

Almost too smart

The app and coffee maker will disagree on what basket to use when making around 500 ml of coffee. The app says use cone and the machine will not allow it and doesn't start until it gets the flat basket.

Just the Best

Easily the best home coffee I’ve ever had. Only competition out is expert pour overs at coffee shops like Onyx. I bought this and the Ode 2. Worth every penny.
Also, the fresh cold brew this thing makes is unlike any I’ve had. Really a special coffee experience to be able to have at home.

Iced coffee drinker wants more ratios!

While I'm getting great results, there's too much math!
I'm an iced coffee drinker who usually brew at 1:15, but where 5 parts of the 15 is ice.
So I went to recreate my usual recipe on my new Aiden by setting a ratio of 1:10, and discovered it won't go lower than 1:14.
Sure. I can brew at 1:15 and just make the coffee dosage 1/10th of the water dosage. But that means Aiden will insist I use the wrong brew basket in edge cases. And I'll have to explain the system to anyone else using my iced coffee profiles.
Can we get ratios enabled that will make ready to flash chill concentrates? Down to 1:10, even 1:8? I don't wanna wait on the cold brew, and don't like that profile as well anyway.

Is it beautiful and elegantly designed and conceived? Check! Does it brew tasty coffee will all kinds of personalization options? Check! Do I feel really cool and actualized for owning one? Check! But for the price, there is one meaningful design flaw. Unless of course there is a “rationalized” explanation from the coffee aficionados. The pot/carafe does not adequately keep the coffee warm or hot after brewed. There is plenty of technology out there (see Yeti) to model after in the carafe construction to retain adequate heat. Several of us coffee drinkers like to go back to the well for another cup later on. Problem is: the coffee is cold, tepid at best. I’ll be waiting for Fellow to hear more about this opportunity from others and wait for them to send me a free replacement carafe in their next iteration of developing a really lovely and promising coffee maker.
