Approaching perfection

Got this to replace our Cafe brewer because its display started malfunctioning just after the warranty ran out (also, after 12 months of use, it no longer looked so premium: turns out the metallic highlights are painted plastic). It makes absolutely fantastic coffee. I mean the Cafe brewer does a lot better than many machines, but it's not even in the same league as the Aiden.
There are a few minor issues that together lead me to deduct a star:
1. The markings on the water reservoir are virtually unreadable and it's difficult to see the water level, too. Reservoir should be clear with bright white markings, which should be about 50% larger. Wouldn't hurt to have a light in the reservoir like some of the Keurigs have (if I'm allowed to say the K-word here). I have resorted to keeping a flashlight next to the brewer, which is absurd.
2. Occasionally the brewer complains that there is no water. Reseating the reservoir fixes it. Last time it happened, that didn't clear the problem, which key happening, and I had to fiddle with the valve on the bottom of the reservoir to resolve it. Will keep an eye on this.
3. The brewing guidance, which recommends the amount of coffee to use, results in very strong coffee. Of course you can ignore the Aiden's recommendation if you want, but it'd be nice to have a "how strong do you like it" setting to attenuate this. In Fellow's defense, their recommendation does really bring out all the flavors latent in the coffee. Our KitchenAid grinder's output, which is based on the number of cups you tell it you're brewing, is more in line with the intensity we prefer, so we'll just use that. The Aiden wants you to use about 50% more grounds by weight.
4. The app needs a notification when a brew cycle is done. I found that really useful with the Cafe brewer and it seems like the first and most obvious feature you'd put on an app, but it's not there.
On the plus side, this thing really is masterfully designed. I dont need to pull it out from under the cabinet to fill the water reservoir or to load the grounds, and there is no steam coming out of the top when brewing (we resorted to putting a folded tea towel on top of our previous brewers to prevent steam from ruining the bottom of the cabinet). Even the carafe is smartly made, maximizing volume by using a cylindrical shape, which also makes it easy to pour compared to the odd shapes used in other brewers, and easy to clean too. The knob for removing the lid is also where the brewed coffee goes in and is shaped to raise the output valve in the brewer when the carafe is in place. Three functions in one little bit of plastic! Now if the brewer could just stop brewing when the carafe overflows because some idiot (me) forgot to empty out yesterday's dregs... in my defense, I hadn't had my coffee yet!
I nitpick because the Aiden is so great, I can't really find anything significant to complain about.

Was skeptical going into this, but I needed a new coffee maker. Boy, was I wrong. The Aiden makes great coffee and, paired with ain Opus grinder, is simple and clean to use. Highly recommend.

Intuitive Maker, Delicious Coffee

Aiden coffee maker is intuitive, easy to use and brews delicious coffee each time. As a time-starved parent / professional, I found it difficult to believe that I could break away from my single serve coffee maker. With a little bit of prep the night before, brewing rich, delicious coffee with Aiden has been enjoyable.

I have had the Aiden about 3 weeks now. I am enjoying using it each morning and the results are excellent. That said, it did take me about a week to understand how it works. For Fellow a “cup” is 5 oz. So if you want a “12 oz tall” cup of coffee you need to brew 2.5 “cups” and even then it seems it comes up a bit short as water is absorbed by the coffee grounds. If you want a “16 oz grande” size then you may need to use the carafe and brew 3.5-4 cups. I ended up getting a smaller carafe to use on those mornings when I want 3 cups but I want some of it to stay hot. The one thing I think Fellow could maybe provide in the next version or even as an accessory is a means of lifting a mug. When you have a shorter mug the splashing is quite significant. I happened to have a shallow much that I turn over and use as a platform for the normal mug the coffee is dripping into. It raises my drinking mug about 2”. None of these are horrible things. Just learning. Now that I have the routing down it works out great. I customized a Guided Brew that I use every morning. As it automatically steps me through the initiation process it asks how much coffee I want that particular morning. Then it tells me how many grams of coffee to grind. Once I have ground and loaded the coffee it press the button to continue the process and while the pour over is happening I fix my breakfast. Works great. (I am the only coffee drinker in the house so I don’t use the carafe that came with it. But when our kids come over I will probably be making 2-3 full carafes each morning while they are here!

Beautiful Design, Exceptional Performance, and Room for Innovation

The Fellow Aiden coffee brewer has been a fantastic addition to my kitchen. One of the key reasons I chose this brewer is its SCA certification, which ensures a consistently high standard of coffee quality. I previously used the Behmor Brazen plus 3.0 since they discontinued the app centric version of this coffee maker, but I was looking for a more advanced and feature-rich brewer—and Aiden has delivered.
From a design standpoint, Aiden surpasses my previous machine. Its sleek, modern aesthetic pairs perfectly with my other Fellow products, making it a stylish centerpiece on my countertop. While some have questioned whether it meets Fellow’s premium build standards, I personally disagree. Though I wouldn’t have minded the use of even more high-end materials, the Aiden still feels solid, well-crafted, and worthy of its price point.
The coffee it produces is outstanding—smooth, flavorful, and perfectly extracted every time. It consistently outperforms my manual pour-over attempts, making my morning routine both easier and more enjoyable.
The Fellow app is another highlight, adding convenience to the brewing process. However, there’s room for improvement. It would be helpful if the app displayed the water level status to avoid guessing whether I need to refill the tank. Additionally, a brew timer showing the elapsed time would be a practical touch with viewing from in the application. Even better, a future software update could enable remote brewing—imagine starting a pre-loaded brew from bed or while getting ready just before walking out the door. And while waiting for the brew to complete ,why not allow the game to be available for more fun while waiting?
There are a couple of design tweaks I’d love to see. While I’m not asking for a traditional pause-and-serve feature, I do think Aiden could be engineered to prevent dripping when removing the carafe something that could double as a pause-and-serve option for some users. Not ideal for purest but even after the brew is completely finished I still get drips that make the machine unnecessarily dirty Additionally, a cleaning setting with guided steps on both the machine’s screen and the app would simplify maintenance.
Finally, the carafe could be enhanced to hold the coffee at an optimal temperature for longer. It’s great for the first cup, but I’d love if my second cup stayed just as hot and flavorful without needing to use an Ember mug to slightly raise the temperature.
Overall, I’m thoroughly impressed with the Fellow Aiden. It combines beautiful design with excellent brewing performance, making it a standout machine. While there’s room for some thoughtful software and hardware refinements, it already makes better coffee than I ever could with a pour-over. If you’re looking for a top-tier brewer that offers both style and substance, I highly recommend the Fellow Aiden.

A fantastic coffee maker. It’s pretty and the coffee taste great. Lots of adjustables, the app is nice. If I could change one thing it would be being able to start an instant brew from the app. I set the timer for the morning but if I wake up early I either have to schedule a new time, or get out of bed and manually start it. Seems a quick start button could be added to the app. Other than that minor thing it’s by far my favorite machine and I’ve had a lot of them over the decades.

Great machine, software needs to catch up

Great product but they were too late in the software. Upon release, the app is barely functional, Not doing anything other than updating the firmware, but at the same time they didn’t have any guide online mentioning that it wasn’t an issue. However, the machine itself is solid, and if the app catches up to the promised features will be great. In particular they need to solve for grind size. For many people value proposition is not in the flexibility, but in the built-in recipes, so you don’t have to waste the first half bag iterating to get the brew just right. In order to fulfill that vision, in the settings they should ask me what kind of Fellow grinder I have and once I put in the recipe and quantity, they should give me the suggested drawing size. Otherwise, they’re just taking volume and dividing by 16

(Mostly) Great

Have been using it for roughly 1 week. Coffee is pretty good once you get the proper grind size figured out (I'm using an Ode gen 2). The unique brew profiles for the coffee that came with the Aiden make a distinct difference vs just using the quick brew feature. The single serve cone basket makes a difference vs simply making a small amount in the larger batch filter basket. My baseline for brew quality was my old Moccamaster and I'm fairly pleased with what the Aiden is giving me. My only real concern is the double wall carafe doesn't keep coffee as warm for as long as I was expecting. I tested the temp of the brewed coffee with a digital temp probe and got the following results: Using Quick Brew the Aiden indicated a brew temp of 96c (205f). Immediately after brewing the temp of the coffee inside the carafe measured 184f. After 30 minutes it was 156f, and after exactly 1 hour it was down to 124f, a temp low enough to prompt some in my household to heat it up in the microwave. I've begun transferring some of the leftover brewed coffee into a Carter Move mug and it makes a huge difference as it stays much warmer. But I shouldn't have to do that. And Fellow's assertion the the carafe will keep your coffee warm "for hours" is simply not my experience. But aside from that I'm fairly happy with the purchase and looking forward to using the app to access brew profiles whenever the get it working.
