It’s EVERYTHING!

After years with a coffee maker that we swore was making our expensive coffee taste like crap, we took the plunge and got an Aiden. It’s insane how much of a difference a coffee machine can make in the taste of the same exact coffee. What was once bitter and acidic, was smooth and absolutely delicious. Also love that the carafe is made of stainless steel instead of glass. Makes clean up a breeze. We’ve owned a kettle by Fellow for about five years, and know that the quality is good - expecting the same kind of longevity from our Aiden coffee maker. Would be super cool if they added additional colors too!

Amazing pour over results with superior programmability, fit, finish and feel.

Exceptional coffee from this versatile automatic pour over machine. That’s the whole idea, right? Replaces our chemex and clever very nicely, and takes only a bit more counter space. Fit, finish and feel are so nice. Programability lets you experiment and dial in. So fast to heat, so much flexibility. Water storage is great. The cold brew feature is a pleasant surprise with really good results. Beautiful design guys! Really.
Two things for the s/w team to consider: 1) improve the dial’s sensitivity. Several seconds to respond occasionally. 2) feature add: would it be possible to dial in volumes, rather than limit to 1/2 cup increments? One thing for whole team: 1) could the display indicate “low water” before brew start? ATM, only lets you know when out of water, mid brew.

Aiden Creates Joy In Every Cup

We’ve been impressed by the level of hydration of the grounds with Aiden, they’re so fully saturated with its seal and 🚿, that they hold more water absorbed than any of my manual pour overs. It makes use of them so well, that ratios feel stronger. 🙌

A Kitchen Counter-top Hero

The machine makes great coffee, but it really relies heavily on your grinder and your patience dialing-in.
My favorite parts of the Aiden:
1. The ease of brewing
2. The curated brewing recipes-- seeing the coffee i bought in the list is SO satisfying, and if feels like a premium experience
3. The brewing performance...ability to rapidly heat up and start brewing, adjustable bloom, and brew size versatility is fantastic.
4. The clean-up
5. Brew scheduling!
6. The very charming "your coffee is ready" noise. I love it.
My favorite parts of the Aiden:

Things that I struggle to enjoy:
- The workflow can be clunky; guided brew must be started before you know how much coffee to grind and there's a weird back and forth of setting the brew basket before you can proceed with the guide.. it's just not intuitive
- The touchpoints do not feel as premium as the performance of the machine... the water tank lid feels flimsy and slams, the brewing lid (while i love the linkage hinge) also slams. It's very jarring and really misses an opportunity to be damped and soft-close.
- The dial navigation; while the tactile feel of the dial is nice (an improvement over the Stagg Pro), navigating through the menus with the dial is cumbersome and not the greatest. I am hopeful the app is finished soon.
- The thin and plasticky nature of the main interaction points; the filter basket handles, body, and even the lid of the carafe really undercut how well laid out/designed they actually are.

+ A "PRO" model... or a "Studio" model that has soft close features, aluminum or more robust glass fiber reinforced plastic body

Con’s, It needs a bit more coffee to get the same results as a manual pour over. It needs a redo on the water lid (it dumps anything on top of it like coffee grounds into the water tank). It needs some better seals on the screen and electronics, maybe a relocation or maybe get rid of the screen and just to a couple of activity LED’s, the jog button is also kinda sketchy, it doesn’t always register. The shower head needs to be automated, center, outer or both. The valves on the brew basket leak (on purpose?) and the app needs to be able to fully control the brewer.
For all the stuff that is broken though, this thing makes AMAZING cups of coffee. Just flat out great. And they are still tweaking the brewing profiles and you can make your own. I should make a caveat here that I don’t drink dark roast, only medium and light. So that’s all I’ve tested. But the Aiden really shines when you love lighter coffees like washed/natural roasts. Do yourselves a favor and try and lighter roast with one of the longer brewing profiles. Kudo’s to the engineers that worked on this, I look forward to a version 2.

A fantastic coffee maker. It’s pretty and the coffee taste great. Lots of adjustables, the app is nice. If I could change one thing it would be being able to start an instant brew from the app. I set the timer for the morning but if I wake up early I either have to schedule a new time, or get out of bed and manually start it. Seems a quick start button could be added to the app. Other than that minor thing it’s by far my favorite machine and I’ve had a lot of them over the decades.
