Water tank and carafe need to be better
on May 11, 2025

Easy to use. Enjoy being able to fine tune variables. Water tank is difficult to read. Carafe doesn’t keep coffee hot long enough. Wide hole on top makes coffee cool off too quickly. This is not a thermal carafe.

In my 80’s and during this life have had many coffee makers. My new Aiden is the plus ultra of them all ! Even my wife, a tea drinker, says the flavor and smoothness may convert her.

I absolutely love this coffee maker. As someone who loves coffee but struggled to make it taste like the coffee I’d get when I was at a coffee shop… this has been a godsend.

To put it simply, it is by far one of the best looking and best thought out products I have ever seen. Is there room for improvement? off course but the clicks and sounds and feel, the brewing etc are second to non

Great coffee, almost great machine.

Overall very good machine. Makes great coffee, so long as you follow the correct workflow and satisfy conditions to account for shortcomings. These is no sensor to know if the carafe or mug is in place. Disabling a scheduled brew when there is no vessel detected would be useful. The coffee maker will continue to drip coffee after the brew is complete. I keep a paper towel under my mug/carafe for this purpose.
There are software frustrations as well. The brew quantities in the app are not the same as in the display. I would like to be able pause a scheduled brew. Push notifications for running out of water mid brew would save a ruined cup. These are all issues that can be resolved with some diligence. The primary value proposition for me was unattended scheduled brews. The Aiden falls short on this metric, as I do need make sure the aforementioned conditions are satisfied.

The best machine money can buy

Earlier in the year my son bought an Aiden and I loved its design/look. He then convinced me to pre-order the espresso machine S1 which I did. In the meantime we tried various Aiden coffee profile and started to think how superior this machine is compared to my old Cuisinart. I began to taste some coffee notes, a difference between the beans that is beyond the binary good or bad I was used to. My wife misses the hot plate as she likes hot coffee, for a long time, while I discovered that coffee at different temperature do taste fuller and better. After a few months with the Aiden, I have a problem: I like specialty coffee and no thanks to burnt coffee. My solution to keep my coffee warm for longer = buy a carter mug with the slider lid! I really like the idea of the Aiden profiles (recipes) and I did try a few bags from the Fellow Drops. It is superior to anything I've experienced before - I am not at a state yet where I taste all the notes so the drops (and the people behind it) is a fantastic help. I also started to look at the Chat GPT brew links - genius! My current problem with the "recipes" is the grinder part. I did buy the Fellow OPUS so that I get a direct guidance, but the recipe gives you a range. That is helpful for sure, but it still leaves a me a bit confused: should I use the low end or coarser setting. I'd like to understand more about it (I did buy a book to go down that rabbit hole:-).
Alos, after reading the FAQ I did buy the mentioned metal basket to replace the paper filters. That was a great advice = great support!! I use the metal basket to grind into it and shake it flat (alike espresso WDT), something I can't do with the paper filter.
in conclusion, my life was simple before the Aiden, now I want to try every different settings, grind size and beans type :-)
One final comment, I was a bit concerned about the build. Not anymore, I like metals and I do wonder how much more money that would have been (??), but Fellow did a great job with it and now with all the other colors, pretty cool.

Great coffeemaker.

Great coffeemaker with some quirks when brewing large batches. I have enjoyed the quality of the brew when it is single serve or small batches (under 3.5 cups). Large batches have been a challenge with the basket overflowing despite setting the Ode get 2 grinder to setting 10. I will have to continue to experiment with pulses and perhaps lower the amount of coffee from what the Aiden recommends.
