This items performs as described, but it did not fit our needs. I like my coffee on the hot, strong side; the built-in grinder is not adjustable and the stainless steel carafe does not keep the coffee hot for any length of time. It is difficult to pour out all the coffee without dribbling, and the cleanup required after every use is a bit of a drudge. We're returning this item and replacing it with the DCC-1200 which features a glass carafe and a heating plate. I believe this is the same model we had before and used for seven years with satisfaction.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This is my third grind and brew Cuisinart coffee maker since about 2004. They do give out after a while, but you just can't beat that freshly ground and brewed cup of morning joe. Every time the machine gives up its ghost I shop around for a coffee maker that might be better, but for the price/value, I haven't found one. The coffee is ground and brewed fresh, and the stainless carafe keeps it hot, but not buring, to enjoy for several hours.

I am not a fan since the grind equipment requires daily cleaning in addition to the pot. Also, the carafe leaks coffee (on to the floor) from the defective pour spout. It's better to use a grinder that doesn't get wet.

Love the coffee maker and its grind and brew features. Not happy with the 'hinged' coffee basket that holds the grounds. The hinge feature makes the cleaning awkward. Preferred it to have been 2 pieces, as the prior coffee maker.

The Automatic Grind and Brew makes the perfect cup of coffee. It’s the best part of my morning. It’s easy to operate and looks great on my kitchen counter.

We like the coffee pot esp for the price. But have found that not all the grounds are exposed to hot water during extraction. Therefore, the coffee is weaker. I now make no more than 5 cups of water/coffee with the coffee bean container entirely filled. That way Im assured of good coffee when I brew at 1-4 coffee rate.
