Works well out of the box. Only used it once and followed instructions. The little pouring cup that comes with allows for the exact amount of batter to be poured. However, it tends to get very messy. Recommend mixing your batter in a large mixing bowl with a pouring spout. Then you can carefully pour to fill the waffle makers griddle. Less mess.

This unit is a very excellent waffle making machine. I had previously had a Waring Professional waffle maker for years til it broke. I had purchased a newer unit, but you needed a Masters degree just to understand how to use it. Then I saw this machine and we bought it and we are so very happy with it. We can now enjoy eating breakfast together without having to wait several minutes for the 2nd waffle to be made. This unit has both waffles made within mere seconds of each other. An excellent waffle maker.

The Double Flip waffle maker is just what I needed to make six large waffles in a short time. Since I'm cooking for two, I refrigerate or freeze most of the waffles for multiple meals. They crisp up nicely in the oven. This waffle maker is a bit heavy and awkward like other large waffle makers, but the design works well for making two waffles at a time.
