The first loaf I made did not come out good at all. I carefully measured all the fresh ingredients (even leveled off the flour, salt, sugar, etc. with a knife - to my Wife's dismay); put the ingredients into the tub in the order in the recipe; set the machine to basic white bread, 2 lb loaf, dark crust; and pushed the start button. The results were terrible. The bread was not mixed thoroughly, thus it baked terribly. We paid a lot for this machine, and we ended up sending it back for a refund.

My old machine broke after 10 years so I purchased this one. I tried twice to make a loaf but the dough failed to rise. I returned it. On reflection I think this happened because the yeast fell under the paddle. My new machine, which I purchased after returning this one, was very specific and said place the yeast on the side of the pan because if it is under the paddle it will not rise.

I was disappointed with this unit. It replaced a Zojorushi unit that had performed well, but was much more expensive. That the Cuisinart unit was manufactured in the PRC (People's Republic of China) was another disappointment. I had expected the unit was made in the USA as many of Cuisinart products are. The unit did make a loaf of bread, albeit a bit dry, in both the one pound and two bound modes. It did handle a package mix for Russian Black Bread acceptably.

The breadmaker works great and has upped my baking game quite a bit. I've made several pizza/stromboli doughs that have turned out fabulous. I was just a little confused when making an actual loaf of bread. The stop/start didn't make it clear when to have the paddle in vs out so I ended up baking the paddle into my loaf, oops!

At first I thought I had a faulty bread machine because according to the recipe booklet that came with the machine, I should have an option of "Crust Color" for a French Bread Loaf. Well, there is no option for crust color for French Bread. When I select "French Program" as instructed to do so in the recipe booklet for a French Bread loaf, Rustic Italian Loaf, Parmesan Peppercorn French Bread, etc... that option is not available! So, I called Cuisinart's customer support. They said that the recipe booklet is misprinted. That actually there is NOT an option for crust color with the "French Program". As it turned out, I did use the "French Program" for a french loaf, and the loaf had no color, it was white, dense like a rock; but it did have a crusty outer layer. I have made other breads, using the bread machine. And they came out ok. I'm not sure why they decided to leave out the crust color for the French Program!!!

Not great for high altitude. One loaf was very dense. The second attempt rose too fast, I guess, and had a large hollow space through the middle. I could have tinkered with it but decided to return it. I do love my other Cuisinart appliances.

We owned the original bread machine & it was terrific. This one does not make bread at all like the orig. I’ve tried many recipes, but the bread is always super dense and not at all like what we were hoping for: light, airy texture with crispy crust. The bread doesn’t rise well either. I’m a precise baker, but nothing I’ve tried has turned out great. We are very disappointed & regret buying this new bread machine.
