At first I thought I had a faulty bread machine because according to the recipe booklet that came with the machine, I should have an option of "Crust Color" for a French Bread Loaf. Well, there is no option for crust color for French Bread. When I select "French Program" as instructed to do so in the recipe booklet for a French Bread loaf, Rustic Italian Loaf, Parmesan Peppercorn French Bread, etc... that option is not available! So, I called Cuisinart's customer support. They said that the recipe booklet is misprinted. That actually there is NOT an option for crust color with the "French Program". As it turned out, I did use the "French Program" for a french loaf, and the loaf had no color, it was white, dense like a rock; but it did have a crusty outer layer. I have made other breads, using the bread machine. And they came out ok. I'm not sure why they decided to leave out the crust color for the French Program!!!

Not great for high altitude. One loaf was very dense. The second attempt rose too fast, I guess, and had a large hollow space through the middle. I could have tinkered with it but decided to return it. I do love my other Cuisinart appliances.

We owned the original bread machine & it was terrific. This one does not make bread at all like the orig. I’ve tried many recipes, but the bread is always super dense and not at all like what we were hoping for: light, airy texture with crispy crust. The bread doesn’t rise well either. I’m a precise baker, but nothing I’ve tried has turned out great. We are very disappointed & regret buying this new bread machine.

I've only used it twice. It works well, but you must follow the recipes closely, such as when it says butter should be "room temperature." The machine is very noisy though. Which was unexpected. Lots of "whir, whir" with the mixing blade, and then the "beeping" for the various stages. I load the ingredients and then put it in another room and shut the door and check it once in a while.

I’ve had trouble with getting bread yeast to raise properly either too hot water or too cool water even using a temp probe I was still unsuccessful. This machine took away that problem. You need to add warm water but the kneading, dough raising, and baking are all in one pan. You can hear the kneading paddle working and lots of beeps for attention if you choose to add seasonings into the bread or to remove the paddle so it doesn’t bake into the end of your bread for later removal. All and all I’m satisfied with machine to provide reliable tasty bread in a 2-3 hour time.

This is my first bread maker and a great value for the money. Pros: easy to use, recipes are detailed and work, instructions are okay, the bread and quick bread recipes are liked by the family. Cons: this is a simple bread maker and you cannot adjust the length of time for proofing and mixing meaning some recipes you find online may not turnout as well as you would like. The instructions have a few typos and can be a bit confusing. The instructions do not give the time in minutes for each of the programmed routines. This would be helpful if you get tired of their recipes and want to try something you find onle.
