I bought my first cuisinart compact breadmaker in 2020 and it lasted until I purchased my new one in early 2024. I make allour bread with it about 1 loaf a week. I like it very much, 15 minutes of ingredient combination to a good loaf of bread, rolls, etc. It would be good if it would have lasted longer.

This bread machine is smaller than my old one because it is vertical, and it is also lighter, which I really like. It does a terrific job of kneading the dough and turns out a nice, golden loaf. It only uses one key (instead of two) which is one less key to remove from the loaf after it is baked. The display is easy to read and the programming is simple and easy. The manual describes the process of bread-making using a machine - the do's and don'ts - which is handy. I do wish Cuisinart had included recipes in their manual. So far I have made a loaf of whole-wheat bread that turned out well and also used the machine to create French bread dough, which I then removed, let rise again, and baked in the oven. Quite nice.

It did not allow for the dough to raise anywhere near enough. The bread came out extremely heavy and tasteless and crumbly. I tried 3 of the recipes that came with it and one from the internet. I used brand new yeast. It just didn’t work out.

I’ve had 3 other bread makers in my life and I like this one best. It’s compact and attractive (I have the stainless steel version), looks nice on my counter with only a small footprint. But the best thing about it is that it makes terrific bread, rolls and dough. I especially love the feature that signals when to remove the paddle before baking so the loaf doesn’t have a hole in the bottom! I haven’t tried any of the other functions yet but I plan to since it does bread so well. My only complaint is that the stainless steel marks up quite easily and the marks don’t clean off well. I live in Florida and am having a problem with slightly dense loaves - they taste great but don’t look as good. I’d like to see the company publish some unusual troubleshooting/fixes because the usual corrective action (adjusting water/flour) for this isn’t working.

I like the compact size of this bread machine. It is a bit noisy. It is advertised to be able to make a 1, 1 1/2, or 2 lb loaf of bread. This is TOTALLY wrong. It does make about a 1 pound loaf or very slightly more. That is fine for me since there is only my husband and myself. For a larger family, this machine is not adequate. I made a loaf using my LONG standing recipe that I used on my old breadmaker. The top fell, leaving a big crater in my bread. I was using fresh wheat that I milled myself and the wheat setting on the breadmaker. I noticed that it was taking about 40 minutes longer on the setting for wheat than my old bread maker. So, after 2 failed loafs, I changed to white bread setting and a beautiful loaf was the result. The wheat setting was over proofing the bread. I say all this to say that I think the preprogrammed settings are wrong. You can make it work by experimenting with the other settings, but i feel you shouldn't have to.
