Small footprint is good, but the smallness of the machine may contribute to the smallness of the loaves. Even two lb. loaves are denser than with my previous, preferred, Panasonic. The recommended flour is all-purpose flour, rather than bread flour, except for artisanal bread. I was going to return the machine but I found I missed the return window by 1 day. I decided to give the machine more of a chance. I have tried the recipes in the accompanying pamphlet; I have tried varying the size of the loaf. Once I had success with a large loaf of an old standard whole wheat loaf, but it did not repeat. Instead the loaf collapsed. Had my previous machine still been available, I would have rebought it. I have not removed the readied dough and baked it in the oven, as seems to have been done in the illustration. What's the point in that when you have an automatic bread maker? My favorite feature is delaying the bake to awake to the smell of freshly baked bread. I have not yet tried that with the current maker but will try that soon. Meanwhile, I remain deeply disappointed.
