The oven has very poor calibration for middle to high temperatures. Toast slightly browns at high and baking is 10 to 20% over dialed in temperature. Very disappointing for cost.

Overall it is a great design and good for baking, but toast making is another story. I'm on my second unit, and it has the same problem as the first, on light setting it toasts like it is on well done. There must be a design flaw with these toaster ovens, as the one I got my mother-in-law does this too. Also, the beep to let you know it is done toasting is extremely loud and annoying. It does bake well though.

We originally bought this toaster oven due to its relatively small size, combination of features, and the Cuisinart reputation for quality products. Unfortunately we were very disappointed in the product, its been less than 2 years and we are on our second warranty replacement. Once this one konks out I don't think we'll buy another.

It's fine and does the job. However the outside cabinet gets quite hot. I don't leave anything on top that I don't wont to get hot. A good place to warm up dinner dishes, however.

I gave it two stars for quality of components and performance. The biggest issue is that it is hard to read the markings on the dial without literally getting nose to nose with the device and a flashlight. I am 68 and bought this for my husband and I. You need to make the dials readable! I almost returned it for that alone. Just not good engineering here and definitely not user friendly. Also, we cannot detect any way to know that the oven temperature that you set with the dial has been reached. I like to put my items in to bake when the oven is at the correct temp, and we cannot figure this out, as there appears to be no indicator. For us, the bake function is just as important as the toaster.

Don't rely on the video explaining all the good stuff with this Cuisinart! There is at least 1 item that is not as described: the dials are not soft, as she says. And, my older one had white markings on the dials so you could see where the temperatures are that you are trying to set.. they are no longer there.
